Aaron Finch and wife Amy receive threats of violence and sexual assault after Aussie skipper’s poor run of form

Australia’s limited overs skipper Aaron Finch has been going through a bad run of form ever since the COVID-19 pandemic. After a below-par Indian Premier League (IPL) season, he seemed to have got his batting back on track with two match-winning knocks in the ODIs against India, but very soon the form started to wane once again. He had a wretched Big Bash League season before his poor run continued in the ongoing T20 series against New Zealand as well.
Now, Finch and his wife Amy Finch have been the subject of horrific messages on Instagram with trolls that have targeted the couple. The two have been sent threats of violence and sexual assault on their handles. Amy took to her Instagram stories to post about the same and send a message to such haters.

Amy took to her story to share a message she had received. The message read, “Tell your husband to step up his captaincy bloody loser f**king a**hole b*tch because of him I lost all my money.” She wrote, “Part of me doesn’t want to give this individual the satisfaction of a response. I don’t appreciate it, neither does my husband who is battling and doing everything he possibly can to get back into the runs. Honestly, these keyboard warriors need to go get a bloody life. This isn’t even one of the worst that has come my way but I’ve had enough!”
Such unfortunate instances have worryingly become a part and parcel of the world of sports nowadays. Ranging from racial abuse to death threats to rape threats, these so called ‘fans’ have been peddlers of hate. One can only hope a full stop gets put to such instances very soon.
