Aaron Glenn came prepared for the bombardment of questions about Aaron Rodgers. On Monday, when the New York Jets owner, Woody Johnson, introduced him and the new general manager, Darren Mougey, Glenn cleared the air by saying they will discuss Rodgers’ future in depth, and the outcome will be a team decision.
After a disappointing 5-12 season with the New York Jets, Rodgers distanced himself from the media limelight, casting a shadow of doubt on his future in the Big Apple. He wanted time to collect his thoughts before announcing his future plans and whether it involved the Jets or not.
Meanwhile, the Jets appointed Aaron Glenn as the head coach, filling the vacant position left by Robert Saleh last year. During his introductory press conference, reporters asked Glenn if his plans feature Rodgers.
"This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers. This is about the roster."

Glenn is regarded as a coach who knows the process of building a good defense. He transformed the Detroit Lions’ from a bottom-three defense to among the best in football.
The Jets possess quality players such as Sauce Gardner, DJ Reed, Quincy Williams, and Quinnen Williams, but they experienced a down year after Saleh left. As Glenn mentioned, he needs to fix the roster problems before dealing with Rodgers.
Jets owner has given Aaron Glenn the power to decide Aaron Rodgers’ future
Regimen changes always bring new ideas that don’t tend to suit each player’s skill set. Rodgers needs to be on the same page with Glenn to make it work for the Jets. Johnson has no qualms about handing over the steering wheel to Glenn about Rodgers’ future and he will not interfere in the final outcome.

In his second season (first full year as a starter) as the Jets quarterback, Aaron Rodgers played all 17 games and completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards with 28 TDs and 11 INTs. Rodgers has a cap hit of $23.5 million in 2025 and will leave a dead cap of $49 million if he retires or gets cut from the team.
