Aaron Gordon shows interest in returning to dunk contest after Ja Morant and Zach LaVine: “I still got some s**t!”
Ja Morant sent invitations to fellow stars Aaron Gordon and Zach LaVine to compete in next year's slam dunk contest.

Aaron Gordon joins Zach LaVine in accepting Ja Morant's slam dunk contest proposal
The 2025 NBA All-Star weekend was a disaster. However, one event was slightly better than the others and that was when G-Leaguer Mac McClung won the Slam Dunk contest for the third straight time. Since then, Ja Morant has called out former greats of the contest, Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon, to come back.
The Memphis Grizzlies superstar first made it clear that McClung had lit a fire inside him. He might want to compete next season after watching the G-Leaguer embarrass NBA stars for the third straight season. After almost committing to a future event, he called out Gordon and LaVine to see if they wanted to give it a shot again.
Seeing this tweet, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo chimed in. His words were clear, if Morant was to compete, he would too. Zach LaVine also replied that he might want to come back after winning twice in a row. Now Aaron Gordon has replied with a tweet.

"It is a young man's game. I do still have something in the tank, you know…if I'm healthy, maybe I'll do it."@MichelleDBeadle | @Double0AG pic.twitter.com/Gt6DAJSut2
He also clarified to Michelle Beadle while on the Run it Back show that he will have to be healthy and ready to take on the challenge. Gordon also dispelled notions that just because he is approaching 30, it does not mean he does not have the hops to show out.
Ex-All-Star wants superstars like Ja Morant and LeBron James to compete in dunk contest
If these four do commit to participate in the 2026 NBA All-Star slam dunk contest, it would bring about a sea change in how the weekend’s activities work. That is what former All-Star and Slam Dunk contest champion John Wall said while on a podcast with Draymond Green and Baron Davis.
I think all the stars should get into it… That’s what made All-Star weekend fun, seeing all the greats that was going in All-Star game to be in the dunk contest. That’s what people want to see, Ja Morant, LeBron. You got Zion, you got all these great stars.
John Wall said
Green and Davis agreed that All-Stars should take part in the dunk contest. Younger stars especially can help themselves by participating. Green cited the example of Mac McClung. He believes the 26-year-old has made a name for himself. That too despite never playing full time in the NBA.

LeBron James might be too old to participate in the dunk contest. But if Ja Morant, Aaron Gordon, Zach LaVine, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Zion Williamson come forward, the dunk contest could suddenly become the most popular event of the season.
