After missing out on the playoffs in 2023, the New York Yankees went on to claim their first American League pennant title in 15 years as they reached the World Series. However, they were blown away 4-1 in this series by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ahead of the new season, Yankees captain Aaron Judge has claimed that the team are now ‘definitely hungry‘ for success.
In the past few years, the Yankees had kept on failing at the American League Championship Series. Last season they finally overcame that hurdle and made it to their first Fall Classic since 2009.
In the series the Dodgers, the Yankees got dominated. Despite the heroics from Juan Soto, Gerrit Cole and Giancarlo Stanton, the Bronx Bombers were unable to avoid a brutal defeat. What made things worse for them was the form of Judge.
The center fielder had another monstrous regular season as he hit 58 home runs and led the RBI charts with 144. In the World Series, his bat would go quiet as he struggle on the plate.
In Game 5, Judge finally woke up and opened the scoring with a 2-run home run of Jack Flaherty. However, later on he made a critical error in the field which led to the Yankees collapse and losing a 5-run lead.
With this failure, the Yankees are now more hungry to prove their doubters wrong as per Judge.
Definitely coming in hungry, if not hungrier than in year’s past. Getting to the dance and then losing out on it definitely is a lot worse than not even getting in. Guys are motivated and ready to go. Definitely some great energy so far.

If the Yankees are to reach the World Series again this year, they will have to do it without Juan Soto. The 4-time MLB All-Star had formed a formidable duo with Judge in the lineup and played an important part in their trip to the Fall Classic. With him now gone, the pressure has once again come on the shoulders of the Yankees captain.
Aaron Judge excited about playing with Yankees new signings in upcoming season
After losing out on Juan Soto to the New York Mets, the New York Yankees went into aggressive mode. They have since landed two former MVPs Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt along with ace pitcher Max Fried and Devin Williams. In the press conference at the Spring Training, Aaron Judge expressed his excitement to play with them.

The 2024 American League MVP would speak on the qualities the four players bring. He was especially excited to see Fried join them. He would hail him for the pitches he had and recounted the times when he faced him in the batter’s box.
I’m excited about the lineup. I don’t know how it’s all going to work out who’s going to bat where and all that but just up and down this lineup we got guys who have good at bats, quality at bats guys that can steal bases get on base and a lot of guys that can lead the part.

With the new signings, the Yankees are also looking to remain under the luxury tax threshold. The team are looking to offload pitcher Marcus Stroman before making any other further moves.
Apart from that, the Yankees are also reported to be in talks with manager Aaron Boone to extend his contract. After the 2024 season, the team used the club option to keep him for the 2025 season and are now looking to offer him a deal which will extend his stay in the Bronx.
