Aaron Judge stole the show in Game 3 of the American League Division Series (ALDS) between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays. With his side facing elimination, the reigning AL MVP hit a clutch game-tying home run, which led them to a 9-6 win.

The Yankees found themselves on the brink of elimination following a 13-7 loss in Game 2. The Bronx Bombers went 2-0 down and needed a win to keep their season alive.

Things did not start the way they wanted as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. once again homered against the Yankees. The Dominican international hit a 2-run home run against Carlos Rodon in the first inning to give his team an early lead.

The Yankees starter lasted just 2.1 innings as a 4-run 3rd inning gave the Blue Jays a 6-1 lead and put them in cruise control of the game. An RBI double from Judge and a sacrifice fly from Giancarlo Stanton made it a 6-3 game in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

It was the 4th inning where the magic moment took place. With 2 runners on the bases, Judge would go up against Louis Varland. Following a 0-2 count, Judge connected on an inside-the-zone 100 mph fastball. The ball would soar towards left field and hit the foul pole, which tied the game at 6-6.

The Yankees captain has faced severe criticism in the past due to his bat going quiet in the postseason. In Game 2, he did strike out swinging with the bases loaded. This time, he did not miss the moment and smashed an important 3-run shot to bring his team back in the game.

A solo home run from Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the fifth inning turned the game around. The hosts added 2 more runs in the 6th inning and went to win the game 9-6 and avoid getting swept.

Judge also tied an MLB postseason record with David Ortiz following his 3-run shot. It was his 6th home run when facing elimination. This is the joint most by any player in MLB history.

Aaron Judge’s 3-run blast snaps a Blue Jays 39-game streak

The way things have gone against the Toronto Blue Jays this year, the New York Yankees needed something special. The 3-run blast from Aaron Judge swung the pendulum in their favor and helped them snap a 39-game streak of their AL East rivals.

The Blue Jays seemed to be on their way to a postseason sweep of the Yankees when they were up by 5 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Prior to this game, the Canadian outfit had a 39-0 record when they were up by 5 or more runs.

The Yanks scored 8 unanswered runs after going 6-1 down and picked up a huge 9-6 win. This snapped the 39-game streak of the Blue Jays and handed them their first loss of the year while leading by 5 or more runs.

Toronto was 39-0 this year in games it led by five or more runs. After Aaron Judge paced New York’s rousing, season-saving come-from-behind win with a three-run HR off the foul pole, it’s 39-1. Tremendous fortitude from Yankees, awful loss for Jays.

Despite being 2-1 down in the series, the Yankees now have momentum on their side. They will have Cam Schlitter on the mound in Game 4. A win on Wednesday for them would enforce Game 5 and take the two teams back to Toronto.
