The New York Yankees will be missing the Aaron Judge–Juan Soto pair this 2025 season. The duo ran rampant last year with Judge posting 58 home runs and Soto at 41. They were also the first MLB teammates to tally 40 HRs and 120 walks in a season.
However, now the scenario has changed drastically with Soto being with the cross-town rival the New York Mets. He was the biggest star of the offseason and ended up signing a 15-year $765 million deal with the Mets.
The Yankees also went above and beyond to bring Soto back to the Bronx with a 16-year $760 million deal but got beat down by the Mets in the last moment. In his latest press conference, Aaron Judge talked about what it is like for the team to miss out on Soto.
He said that while it’s hard to replace someone of Juan Soto’s caliber he is happy to have All-Star MVP level players added to the team. Right after Soto defected to the rival team, the Yankees penned an 8-year $218 million contract with Max Fried.

"Excited for him and his new chapter with the Mets, but we added a lot of new pieces here… you can't replace a guy like Juan Soto but you bring in guys like this that are All Star, MVP caliber players." pic.twitter.com/xiPLPkFhNU
They also signed Paul Goldschmidt, Devin Williams, and Cody Bellinger among other notable additions. Judge is excited to see how the roster will turn out in the regular season games and where the team will go from here on out.
Furthermore, Judge heavily disagreed with Soto’s comment that the NY Mets are a championship team. He said that he signed with the Mets as they have the best possibility to win the World Series.
That’s his opinion. He can say what he wants, I definitely disagree with it. I wasn’t too surprised by it, I think that’s where he wanted to be.

Aaron Judge was asked if he was "surprised" Juan Soto left for the Mets for a better chance to win a World Series:

For Judge, it’s only his opinion as the NY Yankees reached the World Series last season, unlike the Mets who lost their chance in October games after being defeated by the LA Dodgers. Judge wished the best for Soto as he is starting his new chapter with the Mets this season.
Aaron Judge tried but failed to reach out to Juan Soto during offseason
Right after the postseason ended and Juan Soto hit free agency, Aaron Judge talked about reaching out to him. Initially, he wished to give Soto enough space to think about his signing but later tried to reach him to convince him to stay in the Bronx.

Unfortunately, the call did not go through as Soto changed his mobile number and did not get in touch with anyone including his former teammates. They later caught up after the signing was down and Soto was headed to his new home in NY Mets.

Shortstop Anthony Volpe said he will also miss Juan Soto but is excited to start a new season with star-level additions to the team. Many pundits and insiders claimed that it was better for the Yankees to add a couple of star players rather than invest $700 million on one player. Now with all deals signed up the baseball world is looking to start the season with teams and players ready to fight it off.
