Aaron Judge made some bold comments on Monday. While speaking with the reporters, the 3-time American League MVP did not mince his words regarding the slow offseason of the team. Fans on social media would later rally behind him.
After finishing the regular season with a 94-68 record, the Yankees took down their arch rivals, the Boston Red Sox, in the Wild Card Series. Following a 2-1 series win over them, they faced the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Division Series (ALDS).
Just like the regular season, the Canadian side dominated the Yankees. They eventually eliminated them by winning the best-of-five series 3-1 and leaving them empty-handed once again.
Once the season concluded, there were several eyes on the team. Given their disappointing loss against their division rivals, many expected the team to be in aggressive mode in the offseason.
That did not turn out to be the case. The team first re-signed Trent Grisham as he accepted the $22.05 million qualifying offer they extended. After that, the team set their sights on re-signing Cody Bellinger.
The Bellinger free agency saga lasted for several weeks. Following weeks of negotiations, the team finally brought him back in January on a 5-year, $162.5 million deal.
Apart from this, the team have re-signed Paul Goldschmidt, Tim Hill, Ryan Yarbrough, Paul Blackburn and Amed Rosario. Instead of adding new pieces, the team management focused on bringing their core players back.
On Monday, Judge was asked by reported about his thoughts and reactions regarding the moves made by the team. The Yankees captain claimed it was “brutal” to see the other teams get better by signing some big names.
It was brutal… I’m seeing other teams around the league get better. They’re making trades, they’re signing big prospects or big players and we kind of were sitting there for a while, kind of making smaller moves.
Aaron Judge said as per SNY
Aaron Judge was asked what the offseason was like for him waiting to see what the Yankees' front office was going to do and waiting to see if Cody Bellinger would come back:

The other teams in the AL East Division have made some big moves. The Blue Jays, who lost in the World Series against the Dodgers, have brought in the likes of Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce and Tyler Rogers.
While the Red Sox lost Alex Bregman, they have got Ranger Suarez, Sonny Gray, Willson Contreras and Johan Oviedo. The Tampa Bay Rays, on the other hand, have signed Cedric Mullins, Steven Matz, and Gavin Lux.
The Baltimore Orioles, meanwhile, landed the biggest punch as they got their hands on Pete Alonso. The O’s brought in the power hitter on a 5-year, $155 million deal. They have also added Chris Bassitt and Ryan Hensley to their pitching department.
Social media reacts to Aaron Judge’s strong comments regarding Yankees’ offseason
Compared to their high standards, the New York Yankees had a slow offseason this time out. The team prioritized re-signing some of their players and running it back with the same team. After Aaron Judge made some strong comments, he found support from the fans.

Users on X stood behind him and called out the Yankees’ front office. One user slammed team owner Hal Steinbrenner and General Manager Brian Cashman. The user wrote, “Wasting this man’s prime,” while referring to Judge and took a swipe at them.
Check out that and some other reactions from X below:
Hal and Cashman are wasting this man’s prime. It’s sad to see. He’ll go down as one of the best to ever play and may never get a ring. Damn shame.

I feel so bad for this dude. Money aside, he’s been everything New York’s hoped for and more. All that for just 1 year of Soto bat protection. I hope his soft lean-in to wanting to add more pieces resonates in the front office or with ownership before his window closes for good

He wanted to go off on management, but realized halfway through his statement that he needed to correct

Dude wishes he never re-signed with the Yankees 😂

Even judge is tried of the front office not doing a damn thing
— Barrett (@BDGies25) February 17, 2026
As a Yankee fan I feel bad for judge he will never win a WS with the Yankees. As captain of this team he should demand better or he should just get traded to a team that’s willing to win a WS

Really wish the organization would take advantage of the finals years of Cole and judge in their prime and go all in. Instead, they prospect hug and now running it back with the same team that lost in the ALDS.

Judge will enter his 10th season with the Yankees in 2026. Despite his individual brilliance, the team have been unable to climb back to the MLB mountain.
Former Yankees star drops cheeky reaction to Aaron Judge’s words
On Monday, Aaron Judge made his feelings known regarding the offseason movement of the New York Yankees. A former Yankees star would later drop a cheeky reaction while seemingly coming in his support.

After Judge’s words went viral on social media, ex-Yankees star C.C. Sabathia jumped in. The MLB Hall of Famer dropped two emojis, one representing a judge, as in referring to Judge, and one representing speaking head emoji, implying that the Yankees star was speaking out.

— CC Sabathia (@CC_Sabathia) February 17, 2026
Sabathia was part of the Yankees team that won the World Series in 2009. Since then, the team has not tasted World Series success.
The team that has won the most World Series titles, with 27, are thus on a 16-year drought. This is the second-longest World Series title drought in Yankees history. Judge and his teammates would be hoping to end this barren run this year and get the NY-based side their 28th championship ring.
