Aaron Judge found himself on the receiving end of brutal trolls on Sunday. The New York Yankees captain was bombarded with trolls and digs as he made another fielding error in the postseason.

After the Yankees got crushed 10-1 in Game 1, the team was looking forward to another strong pitching performance from Max Fried that could help them out. The Blue Jays jumped early on him and stitched up some hits.

With the game scoreless in the 2nd inning, Fried went up against Daulton Varsho. The Blue Jays’ star would hit a ball down the right field line, leading to Judge chasing the ball.

The reigning American League MVP was unable to collect the ball properly. As he leaned down to grab the ball near the wall, the ball would get by him. Varsho took full advantage of this error and advanced to third base.

The next batter, Ernie Clement, would then connect on a 75 mph curveball and send it to left field for a 2-run home run, giving the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead. The Toronto-based side then kept on pounding on the Yankees.

A grand slam from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the 4th inning was followed by a 2-run home run from Varsho. George Springer, another star who has a good record against the Yankees, would then hit a solo home run in the 5th inning to put the Blue Jays 12-0 up.

After Cody Bellinger made it a 12-2 game, Varsho hit his 2nd home run of the game. The center fielder hit a solo home run in the 6th inning to extend the lead to 13-2. The Yankees did fight back a little but ended up losing 13-7.

The error from Judge in the 2nd inning kick-started the scoring for the Blue Jays. This error was his 2nd in the postseason this year. He has just 2 errors in the regular season over the last 4 years.

The defensive failures from Judge brought back some haunted memories for the Yankees fans. In Game 5 of the World Series last year, the Yankees slugger dropped a simple flyout in center field when his team was leading 5-0 in the fifth inning.

That error opened the doors for the Los Angeles Dodgers to come back in the game. The National League side scored 5 runs to tie up the game. They eventually ended up winning the game 7-6 and clinched the World Series 4-1.

Fans on social media were quick to react to this. On X, several users trolled him for his defensive error and mocked him. One user wrote, “This guy is a playoffs fraud” while taking a swipe at the outfielder. Check out that and some other reaction from X below:

The Yankees have struggled defensively this year. They have made several errors, which have cost them a few games. In one game against the Blue Jays in July, the Yanks made 4 errors. After the game, Judge himself said that the team had not played well defensively in 2025.

Aaron Judge expresses confidence in the team coming back from 2-0 deficit in ALDS

The loss on Sunday in Game 2 put the New York Yankees 2-0 down in the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite this setback, Aaron Judge is confident about his team turning things around and making a comeback.

While speaking with the reporters after the game, the 2-time AL MVP expressed that the Yankees have been in this position (being 2-0 down) and reflected back on his rookie year in 2017.

That year, the Yankees fell 2-0 down against the Cleveland Guardians after losing 2 games in Cleveland. The Guardians, who lost in the World Series a year ago, would end up losing Games 3, 4 and 5 against the Yankees and were eliminated from the division series.

We’ve been here before… We’ve been doing it all year long. We’ve had our backs up against the wall and been in some tough spots. In the Wild Card Series, we lost the first one and played two elimination games. It’s kind of what we did even at the end of the year.

Aaron Judge told the reporters

The Yankees did become the first team this year to come back and win the best-of-three Wild Card Series after losing Game 1. Before that, every team that had won Game 1 went on to win the series.

Game 3 of this series will be played on Tuesday with Carlos Rodon pitching for the Yankees. A positive result for the Blue Jays in New York will send them to their first ALCS since 2016.
