Juan Soto is undoubtedly going to be the hot topic until the 2024 free agency ends. His contract with the New York Yankees has come under microscopic view as fans and pundits question whether the 4x All-Star will continue donning the pinstripes or maybe choose a different attire.
The fact remains that if Soto extends his contract with the NY Yankees, it’ll be the highest paid about in the Bronx considering how he turned down a 15-year $440 million extension from the Washington Nationals in 2022.
Just recently the Yankees fans started chanting, “Please sign Soto!” in an encore from the stands. They made sure to deliver their heartfelt wishes to the outfielder and the organization before free agency. Captain Aaron Judge weighed on the ongoing buzz saying,
The fans are excited, they’ve got every right to be. He’s an incredible player, he’s done a lot for us this year, and I think they definitely want to see a lot more of that to come. It’s going to be his decision in the end, what’s best for him and his family. So we can only do what we can.Aaron Judge as per Patrick McAvoy of SI.

The trio of Judge, Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton has successfully charmed the Yankees crowd base, especially after Sunday’s game where the team won 10-2 against the Colorado Rockies. Seeing the crowd shout out to him, he replied chuckling, “I don’t know. They have to talk to [general manager Brian] Cashman.”
Juan Soto receives standing ovation from Nationals fans
New York Yankee superstar Juan Soto received a standing ovation from Washington Nationals fans, just days after the Yankees shout-out at the stadium. During the Yanks and Nationals faceoff, the fans stood up cheering for their former player as it happened to be Soto’s first time returning to Nationals Stadium in pinstripes since joining the Bronx.
Soto took off his helmet and waved to the crowd, as the chants later followed a low voice of “Come Home Soto”. Currently, there’s no saying whether the Nationals will pursue their former player again during the free agency or if he’ll decide to extend in the pinstripes.
At the end of the day, right now I’m playing for the Yankees. I’m happy where I’m at. We’ll see what happens in free agency.Juan Soto prior faceoff as per Greg Joyce of NY Post.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised the 4x All-Star saying despite the noise “his priorities are where they need to be”. Boone believes Soto knows “he’s an integral part” of the team and for now, all he needs is to focus on the game. The free agency buzz will come to an end when the time comes.
Soto himself mentioned that he is grateful to be in the Yankees team, and he likes their locker room mindset. “…everybody want to (win) at the end of the day. That’s what matters,” he added.
