Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees were knocked out of the 2025 postseason on Wednesday. The team suffered a 5-2 defeat against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4, which saw their rivals win the best-of-five game series 3-1. After the game, Judge expressed disappointment with the result and mentioned that they did not do their jobs.

The Blue Jays had the number of the Yankees throughout the season. They went 8-5 against them in the regular season. As they owned the tiebreaker, they won the American League East title ahead of the Yankees.

In the ALDS, the Blue Jays were once again the superior side. After two comfortable wins in Games 1 and 2, they let a 6-1 slip away from their hands. Judge, the reigning AL MVP, stole the show with a 3-home run, which helped them win 9-6 and force Game 4.

The Yanks once again got off to a poor start as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remained hot at the plate. The 5-time All-Star opened the scoring with a single in the first inning to give his team an early 1-0 lead.

While the Yankees did fight back through a home run from Ryan McMahon and a late single from Judge, they were unable to avoid another defeat. The 5-2 loss handed the Blue Jays their 3rd win of the series and knocked out the Yankees.

The offense of the Yankees just did not click in the series. They got outscored 34-19 across the 4 games. The Blue Jays picked up 50 hits while the Yankees only had 34 of them.

Apart from Judge, every other batter struggled. Of all the qualifying hitters, the Yankees captain was the only one who batted with an average of .230 or more. He finished the 2025 postseason going 13-for-26 (.500 average) with 1 home run and 7 RBI.

After the game, he admitted that it was tough to describe his feelings following another playoff failure of the team.

It’s tough to describe. We didn’t do our job, didn’t finish the goal. Had a special group in here, lot of special players that made this year fun. But we didn’t get the ultimate prize, so we came up short.

Aaron Judge told the reporters

Judge had another fantastic regular season with the Yankees. The outfielder crossed the 50 home run mark for the 4th time in his career and made a strong case for himself in the AL MVP race.

Despite Aaron Judge’s excellent run in the ALDS, the Yankees wait for the World Series extends

Aaron Judge was the top performer for the Yankees in the 2025 ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 33-year-old batted with a .600 average (9-for-15) in this best-of-five series and kept his team’s hopes alive. Despite his best efforts, the New York Yankees’ wait for another World Series extends to another year.

The Bronx Bombers are the most successful team in MLB history with 27 World Series titles. However, the last of this came in 2009.

That year, the Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, who were the defending champions. This title was also their first title since their three-peat in 2000.

Since then, the Yankees have suffered some heartbreaking losses in the American League Championship Series (ALCS). Last year, they made their first World Series trip since the triumph in 2009.

However, they were blown away by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 5 games. The ALDS elimination this year will make it a 16-year drought for a World Series title. It is the joint 2nd-longest drought in their franchise history.

It’s time to go back to the drawing board for Aaron Judge and his team. The upcoming offseason could be a big one of the Yankees as they aim to break this drought and get back on top of the MLB mountain.
