The New York Jets were naturally the team in the hunt for Davante Adams. The superstar receiver reunited with former teammate Aaron Rodgers in what could be a monumental trade for the franchise and their Super Bowl hopes. Bringing in the wideout will be crucial, especially after Mike Williams‘ slip and drop cost them the game against the Buffalo Bills.

Aaron Rodgers was asked about the costly play at the post-game press conference. When relaying how he saw the play develop and what transpired, he had some telling answers.

There’s two verticals. Allen’s down the seam, Mike’s down the red line. I’m looking at Allen, he puts his hand up, three guys go with him. So, I’m throwing a no-look to the red line. When I just peek my eyes back there, he’s (Williams) is running an in-breaker. It’s gotta be down the red line.

Aaron Rodgers said

Rodgers was straightforward in his criticism of Mike Williams. Making it clear that the big-bodied receiver ran the wrong route, which eventually led to the interception.

After this mistake cost them the game, the New York Jets seemingly pacened the trade for Davante Adams. Even though no one from the franchise will talk about Rodgers’ influence, but the timing of everything gives an idea, as the fast-tracking came about after this Monday Night Football loss.

Other than Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, no other receiver helped the team in a fruitful way. Bringing Adams in will help them have another reliable elite receiver to throw to. Therefore, it is likely that the four-time league MVP said what was necessary to make them move fast and bring Davante Adams in.

Aaron Rodgers’ criticism sees Mike Williams on the trade block

A few hours after the loss, NFL Insiders kept their eyes and ears open for any news. FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz then revealed a crucial update on his X account.

Sources: The Jets are planning to make WR Mike Williams available for trade after acquiring Davante Adams. Williams signed a 1-year deal this offseason and the current receiver room is just too crowded.

This adds to the notion that once Aaron Rodgers got his man Davante Adams to come over, Mike Williams‘ time was up. That costly interception meant the New York Jets are now with a losing record.

It goes to show that the 40-year-old QB has a major influence on the decision-making of the team. All indications so far suggest that they work on what he wants and how he wants it. If such a situation is indeed true, then it further raises questions about his influence in the firing of Robert Saleh.

Something that many analysts have asked time and again, even if he has denied any involvement. For Jets fans, they hope all these moves end up with the team winning their first Super Bowl in more than five decades.
