Any decision regarding Aaron Rodgers' future in Jets will be deferred until the vacant head coach and general manager positions are filled.

As the NFL playoffs proceed, the New York Jets like many teams, are shifting the focus to the offseason, where they face pressing decisions regarding their leadership and roster as they are urgently seeking to appoint a new Head Coach and General Manager. While there have been considerable speculations about the Jets seeking a new quarterback, it seems any decision regarding this will be deferred until those vacant positions are filled and Aaron Rodgers knows it as well.
After the demise of yet another season under veteran quarterback, there has been a boatload of rumors surrounding his future in the team, especially since his relationship with owner Woody Johnson is also said to be tainted. However, in a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers confirmed that the decision regarding his future in New York is not in Johnson’s hands anymore, but the new head coach and general manager– who are yet to be hired.

The Jets appeared to be conducting a thorough filtration process while interviewing the candidates for the vacant positions. They already have interviewed at least 33 candidates for both positions but still haven’t reached a definite decision.

Speaking of the future, while he awaits the team to make the first move regarding his future, retirement is far from his mind. As he shared that the emotional toll of the catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires, where his house remained unharmed unlike his friends, could not affect his retirement decision.
Unless the Jets decide to go a different way, the veteran quarterback has no plans to leave Green Gang. He recounted one of the exit meetings with team Vice Chairman Christopher Johnson and the team President Hymie Elhai, where he shared “constructive” feedback on various aspects of the team operations, including travel arrangements and cafeteria meals.
