Several years past his NFL draft of 2005, Aaron Rodgers witnessed wild speculations and rumors regarding his sexuality as many were claiming the quarterback was gay. Rodgers, who has always been a controversial figure in the league, addressed those speculations once and clarified that he has only interest in women.

Rodgers addressed why he handled the rumors publicly and cleared his stance on them. It’s been more than a decade since the controversy of 2009, but the New York Jets quarterback revealed why he clarified the speculations about his sexuality back then, in Ian O’Connor‘s new biography, Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers.”

I think I was upset at the framing [of the rumor] because it was meant to shame the idea of being gay, and I have so many friends that are gay in the community. They were making it seem like you're shaming people for being gay, when a lot of them, if you ask them, they didn't ask for this life. 'This is who I am.'
Aaron Rodgers stated in the biography

Rodgers asserted that he didn’t clarify those rumors because he wasn’t comfortable with those unnecessary tags, but he felt it was highly disrespectful towards the LGBTA+ community. As the rumors got intense, the quarterback revealed being confused on whether to call out people for using the “gay” reputation, or just let it go as his good friend Jason Wilde advised.
