Aaron Rodgers, who was branded a “cancer” at Jets, catches further strays from Patriots tackle Davon Godchaux after SNF loss
Patriots veteran Davon Godchaux claimed he could outrun 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers, despite weighing nearly 300 pounds.

Aaron Rodgers is 40, but Davon Godchaux did not have to rub it in his face. The veteran quarterback used to make brilliant plays using his feet during his initial years in the NFL, but those are just now a fleeting memory.
On Sunday, the New York Jets suffered a shocking 25-22 defeat against divisional rivals, the New England Patriots. Rodgers completed 17 of 28 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns, which wasn’t enough to save them from dropping to 2-6 for the season.
After the game, Patriots nose tackle Davon Godchaux, who had the task of pressuring Rodgers, observed, which nobody did. The 300-pounder revealed that the four-time NFL MVP doesn’t have the legs he once had.
Yeah, I think he’s struggling right now.
Davon Godchaux told the Boston Herald
Godchaux grew up watching Rodgers on TV before entering the NFL in 2017. According to the LSU graduate, Rodgers’ glory days seem to be behind him.
I hate to see him go out that way but always gonna take a win against him, look good on your resume. He definitely don’t look the same. You just don’t know if he could move back there. [Even] I can run him down and catch him. He don’t look mobile at all.
Davon Godchaux added
Yikes…#Patriots DL Davon Godchaux didn’t hold back when asked about #Jets QB Aaron Rodgers:

Rodgers’ is one of the best pocket passers ever to play football. Even quarterbacks in the same category venture out to make some play. However, ever since he tore the ACL in his leg last year, Rodgers hasn’t been the same.
Jets should consider Aaron Rodgers’ possible retirement and draft a new quarterback
The Jets reaching the playoffs is still mathematically possible, but they have to win at least eight of their nine remaining games. However, it’s easier said than done, and there’s always the possibility of Rodgers picking up a long-term injury.

He is already suffering from a sore ankle and a hamstring problem, limiting his mobility. So, in a situation like this, owner Woody Johnson should focus on the next season and perhaps find a replacement.
The best-case scenario would be to draft a new quarterback from next year’s QB-heavy lineup, which consists of Shedeur Sanders, Carson Beck, Quinn Ewers, Cam Ward, and several others. As things stand, the Jets will draft as fifth in 2025, which should land them a quarterback.
There’s also another route that the Jets can take. They drafted FSU graduate Jordan Travis in the fifth round during the recent draft. Travis fell down so much because of the leg injury he sustained last year. It cost FSU post-season football despite finishing the campaign unbeaten. Travis is still in rehab, and if the Jets can make him healthy again, then they have an unpolished gem waiting for a chance.
Even if Rodgers somehow manages to change the course of the Jets season, Johnson must consider every possibility quickly. It also includes finding a new head coach.
