The Pittsburgh Steelers play the Green Bay Packers next week, and there’s a lot at stake for their veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. And no, it’s just about the fact that he played for the Green Bay Packers for the majority of his career, winning four MVPs and a Super Bowl as well.

The 41-year-old has a unique opportunity to join a list of elite four quarterbacks who share the accolade of at least one win against all the current 32 teams in the league. Rodgers has defeated all but his former team, the Packers.

The first quarterback to defeat the 32 teams was Brett Favre, who achieved this feat in 2009 when he led the Minnesota Vikings to a victory over his former team Green Bay Packers. Peyton Manning joined Favre in 2014.

Manning, who started his career in Indianapolis, moved to Denver after free agency landed him there. Though Manning had a chance to defeat his former team in 2013, he was defeated by Andrew Luck and delayed his entry to this list for a year.

While Favre and Manning had to defeat their former teams, Drew Brees had a different opponent he just couldn’t get to thrash. Brees defeated his starting team San Diego Chargers, three years after joining the New Orleans Saints. However, it took him several seasons before he could edge out the Baltimore Ravens. The Saints defeated them 24-23 in 2018, making Brees third on this list.

Tom Brady spent most of his career in New England. He moved to Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the swansong years of his career. He played the New England Patriots in 2021, his sole game against his former team. The Bucs won the game and made Brady the last quarterback to have defeated 32 teams. Rodgers, who’s considered the best passer in the league by many, could be the fifth when he gears up for his first game against his former team.

There are four active QBs including Aaron Rodgers with wins against 31 teams

Including Aaron Rodgers, seven quarterbacks have won again all but one opponent among the 32 teams. Among the seven, four have retired from football: Kerry Collins, Ben Roethlisberger, and Alex Smith. In the case of Roethlisberger, he played the entirety of his career with the Steelers. The same Steelers is the only team he wasn’t able to defeat.

Both Kerry Collins and Alex Smith have played for multiple clubs. While Collins did not defeat the Miami Dolphins, Smith won against every other 31 teams apart from Kansas City Chiefs, where he played a major part of his career. Collins met the Dolphins five times representing four different teams and lost on all five counts.

Smith started his career in San Francisco and lost to the Chiefs twice as a Niner. He joined the Chiefs in 2013 and played there until 2018. After his move to Washington, Smith never played against them and thereby finished with wins against thirty-one teams.

On to the active quarterbacks, Rodgers is one of them. Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson are two among the four with the pending one being a team they played for. Mahomes started and continues his career in Kansas City. Meanwhile, Wilson hasn’t defeated the Seattle Seahawks.

Matthew Stafford, on the other hand, has defeated all but the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rams don’t have a regular season game against them this season. If they meet this season, it can only be in the Super Bowl LX.

Meanwhile, Josh Allen, Kirk Cousins, and Joe Flacco have defeated all but two clubs. In addition to Buffalo Bills, Allen has never beaten the Philadelphia Eagles. They meet later this season, where Allen might join the Mahomes and the others. Even Joe Flacco can cross one off his two later this year when they play his former team, the Baltimore Ravens.
