Despite losing a lot of games, Aaron Rodgers had hoped that the New York Jets would still be able to compete for a playoff spot. But now, they are officially out after their tenth loss of the season against the Miami Dolphins, confirming that they will have to wait another year to try again for a playoff berth.

Warmer Sunday weather did not bring a warm message as the New York Jets now officially hold the longest playoff drought among all major American sports teams. It was not that the result needed another loss, considering how bad they have been all season.

But now that it is official, the four-time league MVP’s legacy does take a major hit. Some suggest the superstar should be known for his exploits with the Green Bay Packers. But there is no escaping the fact that this blemish will show up loud and clear on his resume.

Knowing that, a New York reporter decided to pour gasoline into the flames, suggesting to Rodgers that it is difficult for a team to go 14 years without a playoff appearance. To this, the 41-year-old quarterback asked if there was a question in that.

I mean, I’ve been here… I’ve started one year, so… I’m part of it for one year. It’s disappointing.

Rodgers was suggesting he is not part of the New York Jets infamy. In fact, he is only responsible for one out of those infamous 14 years of not making the playoffs. Whatever happened in the past does not have anything to do with him.

Aaron Rodgers has four games to audition for 2025 starting job

Against the Miami Dolphins Aaron Rodgers threw for more than 300 yards for the first time this season. But his lack of passing touchdowns could not make sense out of those yards as the New York Jets lost 26-32 in overtime.

In the remaining four games, he has to continue playing at this rate or better. Even if he does not throw for 300 yards, if he can convert his passing into red zone scores and help his team win, it will look better for him.

Next season, it is a dilemma what will happen to the former Super Bowl champion. On one hand, he wants to return and start for the team, whereas the Jets are yet to build a front office and coaching staff to decide on their future.

If Aaron Rodgers does not have good games until the end of this season, it will be difficult for anyone to justify continuing with him next year. The team has far too much talent to not make the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl.
