Davante Adams hinted that Rams don't have a dark cloud above its facility and players unlike that in New York.

During his first press conference in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform at minicamp, Aaron Rodgers chose to stay quiet about the New York Jets. However, his former teammate Davante Adams wasn’t so kind while describing the Gang Green.

The Jets signed Adams midway through last year to give Rodgers a much-needed boost. His addition increased productivity. Adams caught 67 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games. However, his Jets finished with a 5-12 record, which was worse than in 2023, when they won two more games.

New Jets head coach Aaron Glenn came in and initiated a culture change. Glenn said goodbye to every player he deemed wasn’t part of his plan moving forward.

Both Adams and Rodgers were on the list. Adams left the Jets and returned to the NFC. He signed a two-year, $44 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

Recently, reporters asked the All-Pro wide receiver to describe his transition from the Jets to the Rams. Adams subtly threw his former team under the bus.

Everybody’s in a good mood [at the Rams facility]. It’s not like a dark cloud over the building. And I’ve experienced that quite a bit over the last few years. So, it’s a glaring difference when you come into a building like this.

Davante Adams said, as per ESPN’s Sarah Bishop

Rodgers, meanwhile, refrained from taking shots at the Jets.

I’m not going to take any shots at my previous organization [the Jets], if that’s what you’re trying to get me to do. I’m going to talk about these guys [because] I like the opportunity here [in Pittsburgh].

Mike Tomlin and the Steelers intensely pursued Rodgers during the offseason. They even passed on the chance to select Shedeur Sanders in the draft or sign someone else.

However, according to reports, Rodgers was surprisingly the third choice in Pittsburgh behind Justin Fields and Matthew Stafford. The Steelers digested ample criticism from all corners until the 41-year-old finally penned a one-year deal earlier this month.

There was another team that kept a close eye on Rodgers. Sean McVay’s Rams shortlisted the 4x NFL MVP as their plan B while negotiating a new deal with Stafford, who was on the verge of leaving.

The murmurs of Rodgers relocating near his Malibu home in California grew after Adams signed. Stafford eventually restructured his contract and stayed with the team, where he won his only Super Bowl ring.

Our first priority… was let’s work something out with Matthew, and we were very fortunate that it worked out that way. If that wasn’t able to occur, then that [signing Aaron Rodgers] was definitely conversations and a possibility for us. I have a ton of respect for the body of work, and I have gotten to know Aaron and enjoy the conversations and just the approach that he thinks about the game and in life, so that was a possibility.

Sean McVay said on Good Morning Football

As juicy as it may sound, Rodgers and Adams will not play against each other in 2025. Rodgers will face both of his former teams, the Jets and the Green Bay Packers, as well as the Chicago Bears, a team he has defeated 24 times in his career.
