Aaron Rodgers goes overboard in hyping Davante Adams after Jets’ humiliating loss to Steelers: “Realest speech I’ve ever heard in a locker room in 20 years”

The New York Jets did not expect the first game after adding one of the best receivers in the past decade would turn up to be an embarrassment. Naturally, with a team that does not have many players who have had a winning run before, it is generally up to the existing leaders to talk about it. But it was not Aaron Rodgers who spoke up, rather it was Davante Adams who took the stand.
That stand was coming from being a winner for a long time before leaving the Green Bay Packers. Many of his New York Jets teammates have not won games in the NFL to know what it feels like. Therefore, even though it was just his first few days there, that did not stop him from getting his point across.
Aaron Rodgers was dead center inside the locker room when his newest teammate spoke up. Knowing that he is one of the older heads in the team and that too a leader, reporters asked him about his opinion about the speech.

Rodgers mentioned that after the game when they were driving back home, he told Davante Adams that he was proud of him- knowing that his speech was needed after suffering an embarrassing loss that could derail their season.
Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams trying to change the Jets’ culture
The New York Jets have long been in football purgatory. Their last and only Super Bowl victory came from the hands of the legendary Joe Namath, that too in 1968. Since then, they have been outclassed by their immediate neighbors four times, making them New York’s favored NFL team.
That went as far as having an effect on free agents and players who preferred to go blue rather than green. The arrival of Aaron Rodgers was seen as the first step in trying to change that narrative. He even mentioned that he was actively working on bringing that change. With the arrival of Davante Adams, that effort should be easier.
Since the times of Keyshawn Johnson, they have not had a receiver of this magnitude. Wide receivers bring flash to a team, whereas quarterbacks bring the class. If the two can rack up some winning streaks, their combination can truly change the New York Jets into a team that wants to win every season. On Sunday, the Jets will face the Patriots where they’ll enter as the favorites.
