The New York Jets have to win a lot of games if they are to enter the playoffs. The entire football universe expected the same as the pressure is at an all-time high on Aaron Rodgers and his teammates. But it seems rookie wideout Malachi Corley lost the memo somewhere.

The drive in question started towards the end of the 1st quarter. Aaron Rodgers kept on finding his receivers as they chugged on down the field.

Then, at the Houston Texans’ 21-yard line, the star QB snapped the ball and faked it to his running back and then tossed it to the rookie receiver who was coming on an end around.

That double-reverse already left Texans defenders scrambling to locate the ball. Along with multiple blockers in front, Corley used his speed and vision to run to the end zone. That touchdown brought out a jubilation from the home crowd.

But then, the replay official signaled for a review. After checking the play multiple times, it was clear that the Western Kentucky star dropped the ball before it broke the plane. His celebratory run-in ended up costing the New York Jets a much-needed touchdown after punting on their previous two drive.

What punched them in the gut later on was that the Houston Texans scored a touchdown to take the lead. The Jets defense has been playing outstanding so far, limiting the opposition. But it is the problems on the offensive end that are costing the home team dearly.

Aaron Rodgers seemingly frustrated at Davante Adams

Malachi Corley surely committed a cardinal sin in NFL terms. The young star was probably excited as he was about to score the first touchdown of his NFL career. Something many rookies don’t get to do until later in the season. But his mistake aside, Aaron Rodgers had another frustrating moment earlier in the game.

On just the previous New York Jets drive, the offense tried to speed up the snaps to throw the Texans’ defense off-guard. On a 2nd and 9 no-huddle snap at the Jets 31, Rodgers threw the ball to his right.

The ball flew out of bounds as the intended receiver, Davante Adams did not look back in time to catch it. More importantly, the clip shows the recently acquired star WR jogging, instead of his usual methods to throw defenders off and get into catching position. It also was ironic as he called out his new teammates for lack of urgency.

The television cameras zooming in back on Rodgers showed what he thought about that lack of drive. The 40-year-old quarterback was seemingly miffed at the fact that his newest receiver showed no urgency on that snap. With the rest of the game still to be played, a bit more urgency could not hurt them.
