New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed his “disappointment” several times during his postgame press conference on Sunday. The Green and White, once again, are in a situation with a low probability of snapping their 13-year playoff drought.
The game concluded with Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson running for a statement touchdown with 46 seconds remaining. The 41-year-old Rodgers couldn’t save the team as he got sacked on two of the Jets’ final three plays, sealing a 28-27 defeat. As it stands, Rodgers and the Jets are looking at draft positioning rather than a comeback.
The quarterback, who has known losing records only twice in his career, expressed disappointment with the circumstances. During Sunday’s press conference, he was questioned about finding the motivation to continue with a team facing such a significant struggle as the 2024 Jets.
Last week, Rodgers stated his intention to play again in 2025. The quarterback’s statement was echoed by the team’s head coach Jeff Ulbrich. Ulbrich acknowledged that he would love to see a healthy Aaron Rodgers leading the team.
Woody Johnson brought the four-time MVP to revive a lost franchise. The Jets currently hold the joint longest active playoff drought among the major American sports leagues. Coincidentally the last time the Jets made the playoffs, Aaron Rodgers won his sole ring.
In 2010-11, the Jets defeated the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts in the AFC game. The Pittsburgh Steelers put a stop to the Jets’ run and eventually met their fate at the hands of Rodgers.
New York Jets Insider claims Aaron Rodgers might not play in green and white next year
The Jets are in shambles. They have been for a very long time. As they fall to 3-8, the messiah is yet to find his footing. The numbers aren’t bad, but a quarterback’s stats won’t bring any relief to a team long struggling.
Aaron Rodgers has led the Green gang with a 3-8 record, much worse than Zach Wilson’s 4-7 last year. ESPN’s Rich Cimini made a bold claim when speaking about the poor state of the New York metropolitan area teams, Giants and Jets.
Cimini had previously indicated that Aaron Rodgers might stay with the outfit one more season. However, that seems to have changed after the eighth loss this season. Considering that Rodgers isn’t owed any guaranteed money, there is no troubles to the Jets’ cap space either.
Moving to the question of what’s next for the Jets, analyst Brandon Tierney had an interesting take that somehow connected to what Cimini mentioned. Tierney indicated that the Jets could rope in Daniel Jones as a support to the quarterback they pick in the 2025 Draft, if they pick one.
