About a month ago, The Athletic published a story about the locker room situation of the New York Jets under Aaron Rodgers. When the veteran quarterback was asked about it, he seemed to know exactly where—or rather, who—the outlet’s source was, even though they weren’t named. Rodgers made sure to give them an earful during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

Quoting an anonymous NFL agent, Ben Standling published that the Jets have given absolute power to the veteran quarterback, which has led to “complete disarray” in the locker. It was also mentioned that Rodgers is not a “team player” and the “vibe inside the building is terrible.”

Obviously, when the ten-time Pro Bowler was asked about it, he disagreed and seemed to believe that this ‘misinformation’ came from the Jets’ linebacker Haason Reddick and his former teammate.

I would say the culture here is about the opposite of what that headline said. I didn’t read the article, but just reading that headline there, it sounds like it was written by Haason Reddick’s agent…former agent I guess, possibly, in a way to try and disparage our great organization.”

Reddick landed in New York just a few months ago, after being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. He has been missing the regular season while asking for a deserving contract as it’s the final season of his rookie deal signed with the Eagles for $45 million. Since there has been no update, his standoff will elongate to week 4.

This season, on one side, as fans were celebrating the quarterback’s recovery, he was brought under scrutiny over not being a team player. The Athletic’s article told a similar story about how Rodgers has been given so much power within the team.

One of its accurate examples was how the four-time NFL MVP decided to miss the mandatory minicamp for a trip to Egypt, saying it wasn’t that important, nor being held the way it should. However, he denied such narrative highlighting his phenomenal performance of Week 3 at the Jets’ 24-3 victory.

He believes such offseason storylines build a poor image of a quarterback when in reality these are “ridiculous.” The team with a 2-1 standing is now heading for the upcoming game against the Denver Broncos in Week 4.
