The New York Jets have commenced their annual mandatory minicamp before the team heads for a brief break prior to the start of the preseason. All eyes are on the team as they head into the year with much hype. However, the biggest reason for the hype is Aaron Rodgers.
Surprisingly, the man himself is a notable absence from the New York Jets mandatory minicamp and, as per Robert Saleh, his absence is unexcused. The QB had informed his head coach about his absence but had cited the reason for the same as a personal commitment.
Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports reported the real reason behind Rodgers’ absence via The Herd on FS1.
Why BS, an event was told last night from a source I trust. Aaron's on vacation and it's overseas, I'm also told you'll learn about where he's at tomorrow. Don't want to burn my source, I'm told you'll learn about it tomorrow, maybe he's at an event, can't believe there's something overseas that would take 7,8, 9 days. Maybe they have a music festival.Colin Cowherd said
His source revealed that Rodgers is not in the country and is on a vacation, probably not the best look for the Jets’ QB when his teammates continue to put in work.
Colin Cowherd called out Aaron Rodgers for taking a week off from the Jets training camp
The analyst is reluctant to believe that any event which required Rodgers would require his presence for over a week. Especially at a time when the Jets are in a position where they need to succeed this season.
He went on to call out the general manager and the head coach of the team.
But the point is don't be surprised by this, this is sort of what you'd expect impulsive owner, new GM, coach with a losing record, prickly older at times arrogant, disconnected QB in NYC.Colin Cowherd said
Colin Cowherd was critical of the culture within the Jets organization.
Colin Cowherd reports Aaron Rodgers is on "vacation" overseas this week, which is why he missed Jets mandatory minicamp:

It is no surprise that Aaron Rodgers continues to enjoy perks that his peers do not. After all, the Jets organization has invested a lot into him. He is the man responsible for building this offensive roster and there is hardly any offensive decision that is approved without at least consulting him before. With these perks come expectations and with six prime time games this year, it remains to be seen if the Jets will finally live up to the hype.
