Since missing out the whole of the 2023 season after just the first snap, Aaron Rodgers seemed to have hit another road bump as his absence was noted from the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp. Although the franchise isn’t too worried about it since it was due to an unexcused personal event, fans don’t seem to like it.

This offseason, quarterback Rodgers has been making an extra effort to make up for his last season. He has been present since the start of the Jets’ offseason program while actively talking about the strategies for the upcoming season with six out of eleven primetime games.

However, as the mandatory minicamp began, Rodgers couldn’t be there due to some personal reasons per head coach Robert Saleh who described in brief, without disclosing the actual reason. For missing the practices, Rodgers has now become subject to a total fine of $101,716 for missing three days of mandatory minicamp.

Aaron and I spoke before OTAs started. He's been very good in communication. He's been here the entire time. It's unexcused, but he had an event that was very important to him, which he communicated.

The mandatory minicamp is the first offseason event that the former NFL MVP had missed. In fact, he was reportedly present at the franchise’s facility a day before for his physical and to participate in the photo day.

Fans react to Aaron Rodgers’ absence at Jets’ mandatory minicamp

Even though Saleh described Rodgers’ absence from the mandatory minicamp as “inexcused”, fans don’t seem okay with it as they accused the quarterback of being dramatic again. Some even mocked his absence by calling him a fraud, writing “what a leader!”

One fan wrote, “RFK is announcing his VP today,” while another wrote, “You give the reigns of the franchise to one guy, then he dosent even show up. Typical Jets”. Here are some of the fan reactions on X:

Fans blamed the franchise for handing over the entire offense in his hands, while his presence can be so uncertain. Some even claimed the “personal reason” is probably his interview for the candidacy of Vice President, offered by his good friend and US Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. However, the quarterback earlier denied the rumors claiming football is more important to him at the moment.
