Aaron Rodgers had hoped that when he turned 41, he would be gearing up to play in the playoffs. But the way the New York Jets season has turned from bad to worse, those hopes had evaporated even before he blew out his birthday candle.
The New York Jets became the laughingstock of the NFL after first firing Robert Saleh. Then to back it bring another close friend of Rodgers in Davante Adams and still continue to lose. Fingers have been pointing to the now 41-year-old for his influence in decision making that has set the team back.
But even then, he has not shown the maturity that is generally expected from the oldest player in the league as he continues to deflect blame on every occasion. While speaking with the panel of the Pat McAfee Show, the four-time MVP revealed how he will approach the rest of the season.
I just want to finish off as well as we can. It’s been a rough season. A lot of opportunities to win games that we didn’t get the job done. Listen, we are paid for 17 weeks. So, if you’re the starter, you want to play all the games. I want to be out there with my guys in battle as long as I feel healthy.
