Aaron Rodgers spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, winning one Super Bowl and all four of his Most Valuable Player awards. He would have liked to stay on with the franchise, but they had other ideas.

Their decision to draft Jordan Love was the first move that seemingly upset him. The superstar QB questioned why they hadn’t considered drafting another player who could have helped in their quest for a Super Bowl.

After all, they just lost the NFC Championship game in Matt LaFleur‘s first season as head coach, and the hope was that he could help them take the next step.

In the following three seasons, the Packers made the championship game again, then lost the 2021 Divisional round, and then did not make the playoffs in what would be Aaron Rodgers’ last season there.

He was traded away to the New York Jets, even though initially he wanted to go to the Denver Broncos. Based on that history, ESPN’s Brooke Pryor asked the 41-year-old if he viewed Sunday as a revenge game against his former team.

I don’t have any animosity toward the organization. Obviously, I wish things had been better in our last year there. I have a great relationship with a lot of people still in that organization. This is not a revenge game for me. I’m just excited to see some of those guys.

Aaron Rodgers reiterated that he was thankful for his time there, spending almost his entire adult life in Green Bay. He believes time makes people grow apart, even though he did not want to end his career elsewhere.

Aaron Rodgers knew his time with Packers was over when Jordan Love came in

Obviously would have loved to ride off into the sunset after the Super Bowl. But that’s not the way the league goes sometimes. I knew the writing was on the wall when Jordan was picked. It was just a matter of time.

He was right about the franchise’s decision when they drafted Jordan Love in the 1st round. Rodgers knew that he was going to be in the same situation Brett Favre was in when he was drafted.

From his words, it seems he was not blaming his former team for his exit. However, it seems Matt LaFleur wanted to test out a different combination and went with Love.

Aaron Rodgers jokingly dismisses O-lineman tackling him in Week 7 loss

Last week, Aaron Rodgers and his Pittsburgh Steelers had a really good chance of going up 5-1 against a lackluster Cincinnati Bengals. However, they did not expect journeyman Joe Flacco to torch them, days after joining his new team.

That game happened to be Rodgers’ 6th loss despite throwing 4 touchdowns. After one of those TDs, as the Super Bowl champion QB was jogging off the field, he was tackled to the ground by his blindside protector, Broderick Jones.

After being tackled, Rodgers was furious towards his 24-year-old teammate, and Brooke Pryor decided to ask the QB about it during their locker room media session.

Brod is always the first one to come find me after a play… I texted him, I said, ‘Man, I love your energy, I love everything you are about. But also, I’m 41. You can’t be out there tackling me like that.’ I love Brod. We had a couple of laughs about it.

For someone coming off an Achilles injury and at that age, his own teammate tackling him was not what he would want. However, Rodgers knows it was all in the heat of the celebration.
