Aside from being a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Aaron Rodgers loves peddling conspiracy theories. The 41-year-old once suggested that, with the help of the government, Dr. Anthony Fauci engineered the HIV/AIDS virus.
Rodgers appeared on the Look Into It with Eddie Bravo podcast in March 2024 to discuss various topics, including conspiracy theories. By this time, he was reportedly in the running for the vice president post alongside the Independent Party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The 4x NFL MVP spoke along the same lines as RFK Jr.’s theories regarding the creation of the HIV vaccine/zidovudine, also known as azidothymidine or AZT, during the AIDS pandemic in the 1980s. Rodgers suggested Fauci, who directed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases from 1984 to 2022, used the opportunity to test AZT on US citizens, killing thousands.
Aaron Rodgers connected the HIV outbreak with the COVID-19 pandemic. He argued the first one was only a test run for the bigger and much larger fish that later the world came to know as the coronavirus outbreak.
Create a pandemic, you know, with a virus that’s going wild, right? Only—he was given, [Anthony] Fauci was given over $350 million to research this—to come up with drugs—new or repurposed to handle the AIDS pandemic. And all they came up with was AZT.

Even if Rodgers is the highest-earning football player of all time (overall earnings), throwing around a controversial statement nonchalantly is asking for trouble.

Aaron Rodgers’ reason behind suggesting HIV was engineered
Rodgers is a polarizing figure. He’s admired for his contributions to football but also shunned on social media for wild political takes.

Yet one thing even his critics will agree on is that he doesn’t speak without doing sufficient research.
I’m not an epidemiologist, I’m not a doctor, I’m not an immunologist, or whatever the f*** [but] I can read, though. And I can learn and look things up just like any normal person. I can do my own research, which is so vilified, to even question authority.

The reading material Rodgers referred to was “The Real Anthony Fauci” by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In the book, RFK Jr. suggested that Fauci, backed by the government, created the pandemic in the 1980s and then in 2019.
That was the game plan… Then, AZT. Now? Remdesivir— until we get a vaccine.
Aaron Rodgers added
Fauci created the Remdesivir to suppress the rapid growth of the COVID-19 virus inside the human body. Later, vaccines were rolled out to eradicate the virus. Rodgers faced backlash for refusing to take the vaccine, and he later poked fun at Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for promoting it through ads.
Aaron Rodgers to Vikings back on
Fans and analysts, everyone is growing tired of waiting to hear which NFL team Rodgers will play for in 2025. The Pittsburgh Steelers currently are the favorites to sign Rodgers, but the Vikings have re-entered the conversation.
According to the Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Vikings, a team that ended its pursuit of Rodgers, might still be interested in him.
Whatever the reason is for why some Vikings fans don’t want to see Aaron Rodgers, they have to come to grips —there is a world that exists, this year, where Aaron Rodgers hangs out.
Dianna Russini said (H/T: Bleacher Report)
JJ McCarthy recently revealed that the Vikings haven’t told him if he’s the starter in 2025 or not. Kevin O’Connell will add a quarterback or two in the next few weeks to make McCarthy compete with them. And Russini advised the Vikings fans to cast out the Rodgers’ hate and embrace the possibility of their once bitter divisional rival as their next starting quarterback.
