After his disastrous run with the New York Jets, fans and a few analysts believed Aaron Rodgers might have to end his illustrious career. The embarrassment of not having an offer would be too much to bear on his ego.
After a lengthy discussion with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the 41-year-old finally decided Steel City was his next stop. It could be his final, but before he makes that decision, the QB would like to perform well so that the reputation he garnered in New York does not stick with him for life.
Ironically, his first game was against them, and he did his part to help his new team beat his old place of work. After the game, he reminded the world that the win was special, suggesting he had some lingering resentment.
Then he moved on, and surprisingly, returned to his Jets ways, throwing 2 interceptions against the Seattle Seahawks to lose the Game 2 by a score of 17-31.
That loss was not completely his fault, as the Steelers’ special teams’ mishaps contributed to their misery. In Week 3, they faced the rebuilding New England Patriots, which gave them another chance to get an early-season win.
Rodgers did not have a terrific outing, throwing for just 139 yards and an interception early in the 2nd half. However, he managed to connect with DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin in the end zone, which helped them keep the game out of the hands of the hapless Patriots.

When he connected with Metcalf, it happened to be his 509th career passing touchdown, which helped him pass his former teammate and pseudo-mentor, Brett Favre, to climb to 4th all-time in NFL history.
Aaron Rodgers gets 1st career win at Foxborough
Aaron Rodgers became a 4-time league MVP around the same time as the other great quarterbacks of the league, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady, were playing.
Due to the latter’s dominance, Rodgers could never win much. It is also argued that had Brady not been around, Rodgers could have won more Super Bowls to establish himself as probably the greatest QB of all time.
But history chose differently, and the California native ended up becoming one of the greatest QBs, but without the out-and-out success Brady had. Now that the former Patriots legend is a broadcaster with FOX, it gave Rodgers a chance to notch his 1st career win at Foxborough.

He ended the night with two accomplishments, one of which his pure talent helped him achieve. The other was dependent on his longtime rival’s retirement.
Aaron Rodgers credits defense for win against Patriots
Aaron Rodgers is aware that he is not physically the same as when he was racking up league MVP awards. The Achilles tear seems to have taken the elusiveness out of him, and he is sometimes too careful with his movement.

That reduction in fluidity might have impacted his accuracy ever so slightly. For someone who was known for being the most accurate, these interceptions are becoming a blot on his resume.
In this game, those interceptions could have cost them the game, but the defense did its part in forcing the Patriots to commit turnovers. Rodgers had them to thank for this win.
They’ve been taking it on the chin little bit, I think the last couple of weeks, and didn’t really appreciate it. They came out and played incredible… I didn’t have a good game. The defense, every time, kept us in the game. The defense won the game.

The Super Bowl champion QB gave credit where it was due and praised the defense for keeping them in the game. If this mutual respect continues, it could become a good way to end his career.
