Aaron Rodgers may have won only one Super Bowl ring, but he truly had a legendary career playing in the NFL for two whole decades and continues. Given his retirement is just a few years away, one would wonder what would be the “greatest ending ever” to his career. It seems sports analyst Nick Wright has an answer to that question.
The New York Jets traded for the ten-time Pro Bowler for the sole purpose of winning the grand Vince Lombardi Trophy; but after his debut with them ended after just four snaps, the season ended on a disappointing note.
While discussing the Jets’ playoff odds during the recent episode of First Things First, sports analyst Wright claimed the perfect fairytale ending for the Jets as well as Rodgers would be holding the Super Bowl trophy. But while calling it a “fairytale,” Wright admitted that it is realistic.
“I think to me it was more melancholy almost,” said Wright when asked if it’s realistic for the Jets to have the perfect ending with Rodgers by holding the Vince Lombardi trophy.
I’m not gonna have my career end the worst way imaginable: being carted off the field. I’ve dedicated my life to this. I am one of the greatest players ever… so this would be the greatest ending ever by a quarterback...He will be 41 when it comes around. So, if we were talking about can he can pull off a fairy-tale ending for the New York Jets, no I don't think that's realistic.Nick Wright added
As the quarterback took his sweet time to recover after sustaining an ACL injury in week 1 of last season at the age of 40, he is ready to attack and reclaim the Jets’ contender status.
Aaron Rodgers’ retirement thoughts amid Jets’ struggles last season
After the former NFL MVP went down in the opening week, the entire offensive line of the Jets collapsed resulting in them becoming the first team in the league to be eliminated from the playoffs run. Watching his team struggle this way, Rodgers revealed thinking about his potential retirement, mainly how his life would pan out after the NFL.
He shared that being away from his team in rehab gave the quarterback a new perspective and he started thinking about his life when he wouldn’t have to think about playing the football matches. Conclusively, it made him realize that his post-retirement life would be ‘comfortable.’
However, the quarterback had previously shared that his potential retirement is at least three to four seasons away and in the meanwhile, he intends to win a few Super Bowl rings, starting from the coming 2024 season with the Jets.
