A few days ahead of their game against the Indianapolis Colts, Aaron Rodgers made his intentions clear about wanting to play next season. However, with the turmoil the New York Jets have been since that game, some suggested he was looking to play elsewhere.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that according to Rodgers’ inner circle, he wanted to quit and play for another team. Fans and analysts felt it was disrespectful of him, as the organization had done everything according to his never ending wishes.
This became the topic of discussion when Aaron Rodgers returned to speak on the Pat McAfee Show earlier. When host Pat McAfee asked if there was any truth to the fact that he wanted out of the New York Jets, the four-time league MVP gave his side of the things.
As far as my future goes, I haven’t told anybody in my life that I wanna play in 2025 and not on the Jets. That’s 100% false. I actually said the opposite. I said I’m going to wait and see what happens at the end of the season, and if they want me back.
Aaron Rodgers said
To this, Pat McAfee asked if Rodgers misled the media into a different direction.
There’s not a lot of journalistic integrity anymore. The standards are what they are. Some of the stuff that I’ve read the majority is limited in its truth and questionable in its content.

McAfee asked that question as the Super Bowl champion clarified that his inner circle does not talk to journalists such as Dianna Russini. He even mentioned that his circle is too small to even leak something out, that too, which was not true.
Aaron Rodgers re clarifies his stance for next season
During that discussion, Aaron Rodgers primarily dismissed any notion that he wants out. He had earlier suggested that he wants to continue playing next season. Considering that the New York Jets have everything going his way, he clarified his stance on the show.

I’ve really enjoyed my time in New York. I came here to win here. I don’t even know if I wanna play yet, but New York would be my first option.
Aaron Rodgers on his future
This re-clarification from the California native seemingly retracts his earlier suggestion that he wants to play next season. He might be rethinking it with the way changes have happened since his last statement. He wants to see how the organization rebuilds its front office and coaching staff before taking a call.
But if the 40-year-old QB was to play, he prefers to play for the New York Jets. Considering all that has been done to give him the best situation to win, his clarifications could give the organization and its fans a breather.
