Aaron Rodgers usually doesn’t turn down the opportunity to sign a few autographs unless he senses any ulterior motive. The future Hall of Famer dropped by at Lake Tahoe to score a few birdies at the American Century Celebrity Golf tournament on Thursday.

A fan extended a ticket from the Packers-Saints game in 2005 in which the team from Wisconsin Bay scored 53 points against their NFC counterpart. Rodgers quietly walked away without signing the ticket while the fan kept persuading him to do so.

He tried to jog Rodgers’ memory by saying that he came on during the game to replace Brett Favre and completed one pass. The 41-year-old caught the fan off guard with a counter question.

Rodgers tested him by asking how many passes he had attempted that day. He fumbled big time and made a last-ditch effort to save his face by saying that the game happened 20 years ago when he was just 16.

Rodgers did not flinch. He probably realized that the fans had some sort of ulterior motive behind constantly asking him to sign the ticket. Usually, fans back away after multiple rejections, but Rodgers got stuck with a persistent one.

You are an autograph hound… Yeah! You are. Can’t fool me. You can’t fool me.

Aaron Rodgers said and slowly walked away

Naturally, it created a scene on social media. Rodgers’s polarizing attitude has created a lot of enemies for him. It did not take them long to hound him for refusing the autograph.

However, a few came to the Super Bowl winner’s defense. One X user even pointed out that Rodgers made the right choice.

Aaron Rodgers had a surprise visitor at the tournament

Although Rodgers didn’t start the tournament ideally because of the heckling fan, an angel turned his day around. It was none other than his ‘Lake Tahoe’ grandmother, Carol, who came to see her superstar grandson.

Rodgers and Granny Carol (not his biological grandma) were seen embracing each other during the practice rounds. She affectionately held his head in her hand and was later seen walking together, the Daily Mail reported.

Granny Carol was featured in Rodgers’ Netflix docuseries, ‘Enigma,’ where she shared that meeting the All-Pro quarterback was the highlight of her year.

We appreciate each other and nice to catch up. He’s a wonderful person, so I feel very fortunate.

Granny Carol said about Rodgers

The two apparently met through their mutual coach when Rodgers was still trying to make a name for himself as a football player. She showered Rodgers with even more praise.

He is a warm, wonderful person. He has his opinions, and he’s free to express them, which is what he should be able to do. And [he is] a great friend. A great, great friend.

Carol added

After the tournament ends, Rodgers will head back to Pittsburgh to join the Steelers’ training camp. He signed a one-year contract with the AFC North franchise and hinted that 2025 might be his final year in the NFL.

Fans hoping Rodgers will remain involved in football after retiring might be disappointed, as he has no plans to follow Tom Brady‘s path into the media spotlight. Instead, his retirement appears to be a low-key retreat with his rumored wife, Brittany.

Rodgers is not poor—far from it. Over The Cap revealed that he has made $381,692,206 during his NFL career and is worth around $200 million.
