Will this be the first and last season that Aaron Rodgers will have played for the New York Jets? In all likelihood, that is how things are shaping up. The veteran quarterback has had a rough season. Despite having the tools around him, Rodgers has been unable to deliver as promised.
With the team headed for another losing season, there is uncertainty around the quarterback’s future. As per Ian Rapoport, Aaron Rodgers is considered “a long shot to return” to the Jets. The team has a lot of difficult decisions to make in the off-season such as determining who will be the next Head Coach.
But at this moment, their focus remains on attempting to gain clarity on their quarterback situation. His sources suggest that while there exists a chance of him returning, it would require some convincing from the top-level management.

Aaron Rodgers’ future hangs in the balance
The Jets find themselves in a tricky situation. They have a quarterback who will be turning 41 tomorrow and is unsure about playing football for another year and they have an offense that was built around him that continues to get restless because of the repeated losses.
Aaron Rodgers revealed on Tuesday via Pat McAfee’s show that the rumors swirling around suggesting he will not be playing on the Jets next season were false. He clarified that presently, he continues to ponder about his future and that a return is not guaranteed right now. If one is a part of the Jets organization, that has to be concerning.
The team will have financial implications if the four-time MVP chooses to retire. If the two sides choose to part ways then the Jets will be stuck with a $49 million dead cap that will plague them in 2025 and 2026. The best bet would be for the organization and Rodgers to come to a consensus and announce his departure after June 1, 2025, as it would cost them $14 million.
