Aaron Rodgers Slams Fans Who Think Buying a Ticket Lets Them Say ‘Whatever the Hell They Want’
Aaron Rodgers wants the NFL to enforce a fan code of conduct to prevent them from saying bad things to the players after WR DK Metcalf was banned for misbehaving with a Lions fan.

Aaron Rodgers will be without WR1 DK Metcalf for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ last two games of the regular season as the team pushes for playoff qualification. Ahead of the Steelers’ crucial week 17 fixture against the Cleveland Browns, Rodgers addressed Metcalf’s situation at length to the media.
Last Monday, the Steelers went to Detroit and hung onto their lead to secure a 29-24 victory over the Lions. Metcalf only had 4 catches for 42 yards at the final whistle, which isn’t much of an improvement from the previous week’s game with 3 for 55 yards. However, he did score a touchdown on ex-Steeler Minkah Fitzpatrick.
The Steelers won both games with minimal involvement from their WR1. To make matters worse, Metcalf misbehaved with a Lions fan. According to eyewitness accounts, the Lions fan called Metcalf by his full government name. However, the Pro Bowler made a different claim. He accused the fan of using racial slurs.
The league stepped in and suspended Metcalf for the Steelers’ final two regular-season games, leading to monetary losses. His appeal to rescind the decree was also rejected.
Aaron Rodgers urged the NFL to take action in enforcing proper fan conduct
Of course, it’s a massive conundrum for the Steelers. Replacing a physical receiver of Metcalf’s stature with 850 yards and 6 touchdowns isn’t an easy task. Veterans Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Adam Thielen have the necessary experience to cover games, but neither possesses Metcalf’s explosiveness.

This will push Arthur Smith and Rodgers to reconsider their strategy against the Browns. Meanwhile, Rodgers made his position clear on Metcalf’s ban and urged the league to implement a “code of conduct” for fans attending football games. Aaron Rodgers said:
I think there’s a mindset that you [as a fan] pay for a ticket, you say whatever the hell you want [to the players]. I think there should be some sort of code of conduct [from the NFL]. Obviously, that [the Lions fan name-calling] was intentional, and I think there was some celebration afterward on his part. Obviously, don’t condone what DK did.

The 42-year-old is no stranger to controversy. In his two-decade-long NFL career, Rodgers has had several unsavory run-ins with fans and the media. However, one area has always remained constant: his support for his teammates. He quipped:
I understand, there have been a lot of crazy comments said my way over the years. The truth is that it would never happen face to face… There are two sides to every story. I support DK [and] I’ll continue to support DK.
The Steelers are 9-6 and, according to NFL research, stand a 91% chance of qualifying for the playoffs. A win against the Browns will increase their chances to 99%, but a defeat will decrease them to 79%.
The Steelers hold a record of 83-64-1 against the Browns. Rodgers is 4-0 against the AFC North franchise. In the reverse fixture in week six, Rodgers completed 21 passes from 30 attempts for 235 yards, 2 touchdowns, and finished with a 123.33 quarterback rating. Metcalf had 4 catches for 95 yards and 1 touchdown.
Steelers 2025 Pro Bowlers
Three Steelers players were selected for the 2025 Pro Bowl games. Defensive back Jalen Ramsey was the name on the board. Ramsey, who joined the Steelers in the offseason via a trade from the Dolphins that saw Fitzpatrick go the other way, has accumulated 46 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 7 pass deflections, and 1 interception. It was Ramsey’s eighth Pro Bowl nod of his career.

Linebacker TJ Watt became the second Steeler on the list. Watt, who has missed the last couple of games due to injury, has accumulated 22 total tackles, 7 pass deflections, and 7.0 sacks in 13 games. It was Watt’s eighth straight Pro Bowl nod. Fifth-year receiver Ben Skowronek received his first Pro Bowl nod for his outstanding contributions in special teams.
