With Aaron Rodgers poised to become the oldest player to feature in the 2026 playoffs, football fans will be eager to see if the veteran QB can complete his redemption arc after facing criticism in the past.

It will not be easy going up against the Houston Texans and their league-best defense. Still, the California native has claimed that his team is the hottest in the league after posting a 10-7 record to close the regular season.

In doing so, Rodgers has won back many of his former critics, who now believe that the 42-year-old is proving to everyone that he can still do it. One of them, Lil Wayne, has seen the Golden Bear do it all throughout his time at the Green Bay Packers, and is still not surprised.

One thing I like to tell everybody, I am not surprised, at all. I think Aaron did not go out without knowing he can do what he is doing right now. Got too much pride to go out there and look any other way.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper reiterated that for someone who walks around with as much pride as the four-time league MVP, he would not have signed up to continue playing if he knew he was declining.

Wayne then made it clear that Aaron Rodgers is an all-time Packer, and thankfully, does not have anything but good things to say about his former team. On the other hand, the only time he talks negatively is whenever the New York Jets come into the conversation.

Lil Wayne still picks Texans against Aaron Rodgers’ Steelers

Lil Wayne was a special guest on this episode of The Arena: Gridiron, and Aqib Talib was talking about how Aaron Rodgers and his Steelers offense looked good in their Week 18 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

But then, when Cody Kessler pointed out that the same unit struggled against the stellar Cleveland Browns defense, the rapper chimed in.

Them boys are scary. I’m picking the Texans… Them boys playing just like their coach. They remind me of a college team, like how college teams take on the identity of their coach.

Lil Wayne said

He confirmed to host Kinsey Wolanski that he was picking the Houston Texans to win this battle against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as Wayne felt that the elite defense could become a problem for Aaron Rodgers. However, he did reiterate that he would like Mike Tomlin and his team to continue their Monday Night winning streak, but he cannot count out the Texans.

Cam Heyward reveals how Steelers wanted to make Aaron Rodgers feel welcome

When Aaron Rodgers arrived at the Pittsburgh Steelers, there were question marks about how he would fit in. It was not about the team, but rather how the team would work with the supposed attitude he displayed when he was with the New York Jets.

After we got that first win in New York, me and Mike T had talked about, he was like, ‘Let’s bring this old man along with us.’ We wanted to give him an experience of what it’s like to be a Pittsburgh Steeler.

Cam Heyward told reporters

The defensive tackle revealing this could be an insight into how the team decided to make the Super Bowl champion QB feel welcome. Maybe that is why Rodgers has been emotionally talking about how he is grateful to the Steelers for bringing him in.

For someone who was on the verge of leaving the game entirely, the recently married QB could stay for another season. He knows that a full offseason working with the offense could help them take another step.
