The New York Jets lost yet another game and Aaron Rodgers has found a new entity to blame. After a humiliating loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the four-time MVP quarterback lashed out at the team’s media.
The Jets brought Aaron Rodgers last year to end their long-standing Super Bowl drought. After a season-ending injury in the first game of the 2023 season, Rodgers came back in 2024.
In the first proper seven starts of his Jets’ tenure, he has managed to win only two games. Despite strengthening their core with Davante Adams, the Jets came short of the Steelers on Sunday.
Following the loss, Rodgers addressed the media searching for solutions to the Jets’ struggles. Although he claimed to have found an answer to their issues, it was as confusing as the Boogergate. When asked how New York planned to regain confidence and turn their season around, Rodgers began by shifting blame toward the media.
Nevertheless, it is fresh that Rodgers shoulder some of that responsibility even though he weighed them less than the media. Rodgers has played reasonably well for most of the season, but despite his respectable box-score stats, the four-time MVP struggled on Sunday night. He had a completion rate of 61.5% while throwing just one touchdown and two interceptions.
His ball placement was inconsistent, and he seemed hesitant to throw beyond five yards downfield. Despite having talented receivers, he has yet to surpass 300 passing yards in a game this season. His 48.8 QB rating through seven games ranks 23rd among qualified starters.
Former Jets RT Damien Woody isn’t happy with Aaron Rodgers bashing media for their woes
The New York Jets are worse than last year’s 4-3 with Zach Wilson this time around. Former Jets right tackle and ESPN analyst Damien Woody isn’t happy about the result. The latest comments from the star quarterback have irked him a bit more as it stands.
Speaking on the morning segment of the Get Up podcast, Woody noted that Rodgers has everything to win at his disposal. He also acknowledged that it is not fair to dump the blame on the media after a worse performance on the field.
Former quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick also acknowledged that the two do not correlate with these specific circumstances.
The Jets, under a new leadership with Jeff Ulbrich, are yet without a win. They are headed to Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts on the upcoming Sunday to play the New England Patriots. Patriots, a bare semblance of what they used to be, are one of the worst-performing teams in the league right now.
