During and after their embarrassing team performance against the Buffalo Bills, all eyes were on superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers and head coach Mike Tomlin.
Not only were fans after the latter’s head, but analysts and former players urged the 53-year-old to leave the Steelers. They felt his ‘voice had become stale’ after 19 years in the same building.
It was not just the way the offense imploded in that game, but the defense’s lackluster performance, something Tomlin proudly boasted about for years, that was dumbfounding.
Many believed that if the head coach left, the franchise could then bring in good motivational coaches who could coax the team to play beyond its abilities. It seemed like any such lapses in the future were going to add to their narratives.
Means maybe you guys will shut the hell up for a week.
Aaron Rodgers told reporters
This was the superstar quarterback’s response to reporters asking what their win against the Baltimore Ravens would mean to Pittsburgh Steelers fans.
Asked what this win means after the week of negativity about the team and coach Mike Tomlin, Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers says:

The 42-year-old QB made it clear that it was time for the naysayers to leave Mike Tomlin alone, especially with the way they performed in a crucial game against a division rival.
For all the criticism he has taken, the head coach has seemingly brought his team back into playoff contention. With 3 out of their remaining 4 games against conference rivals, it seems Tomlin might have the last laugh.

This Week 14 game could not have come at a better time for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not only were they in danger of losing to a division rival, which would have huge ramifications on their playoff hopes.

But they were also on the brink of an implosion, especially with the way the entire team struggled last week. This time, both coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Aaron Rodgers ensured they were leaving no stone unturned.
The defense played well, registering 2 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, 5 QB hits, and 5 passes deflected. All of that while still finding a way to intercept Lamar Jackson.
Then there were the special teams, who did their job on kickoffs, punts, and when kicking field goals. Moving to the offensive side of the ball, the Steelers’ receivers burned the Ravens’ secondary for 284 yards.
They did not have much success running the ball, but Rodgers ensured they would have a highlight on one play. With a little more than 7 minutes left in the 1st quarter, the away team ran a QB draw.

Fans saw the oldest player in the league gallop his way towards the end zone, scoring their first touchdown of the game. After doing so, Rodgers brought out his famed championship belt celebration. Replays then showed that Tomlin also joined in.
Former MVP has high praise for Aaron Rodgers
A week ago, Aaron Rodgers also received criticism, especially with the way he played against the Bills. This time, a former MVP, Matt Ryan, chose to do the opposite.
Aaron Rodgers played one of his best games as a Pittsburgh Steeler… Aaron Rodgers stepped up and delivered the performance they needed.
Matt Ryan said on NFL on CBS’ postgame show
The former Atlanta Falcons great believes this was the Super Bowl champion QB’s best game so far, and he looked comfortable in his pocket all throughout the game.

When tasked with doing what was necessary, Ryan felt the California native stepped up. Now, the Steelers will need their signal-caller to play like that in their final four games.
