It appears that all the hearts Aaron Rodgers won by showing his dedication to reclaiming contender status for the New York Jets in the upcoming season have once again been disappointed by the quarterback. He seems to be everywhere except at his team’s mandatory minicamp earlier this month.

The Jets quarterback has been quite in the limelight lately, though of the negative kind, as fans and critics questioned his priority for missing the most important part of the team’s offseason program for a personal event which later turned out to be a trip to Egypt. Even after returning, instead of compensating for his absence, the quarterback was spotted enjoying the UFC 303 event in Las Vegas.

The four-time MVP made his first public appearance since missing the minicamp on Saturday for the UFC fight between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka. He was photographed sitting next to his former Packers teammate, Marcedes Lewis–who now plays for the Chicago Bears.

Following his Egypt exploration, this UFC appearance raised many eyebrows as fans questioned his dedication and commitment to the Jets.

Head coach Robert Saleh attempted to mellow down the ongoing controversy at the quarterback’s expense by saying that he and Rodgers are on the same page and there also isn’t any issue between him and the team. However, fans don’t seem too convinced considering Rodgers’ extensive off-field interests.

Jets fans concerned Aaron Rodgers’ priorities lie outside football

Since the mysterious whereabouts of the Jets’ quarterback became public knowledge and it was found out he went on a trip to Egypt, an old interview with ESPN Wisconsin from nine years ago resurfaced on the internet. There he can be heard saying that exploring Egypt is high up on his bucket list, followed by hosting “Saturday Night Live.”

Many athletes juggle their on-field responsibilities with off-field pursuits. However, there has been very few who prioritized the latter over the former. And considering the fact that the Jets suffered a brutal collapse after Rodgers’ ACL injury in the first week of last season, the stakes are much higher for the next.

Fans believe the quarterback’s off-field endeavors seem to be at the expense of the Jets rather than mere juggling. Moreover, these also shift the focus from the franchise and their preparation for the upcoming season which will see six primetime games.
