The New York Jets were associated with disappointment and bad football for more than 5 decades until Aaron Rodgers came in.

When the New York Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers a season ago, the goal was to end their five-decade-long Super Bowl drought. Last season’s injury stopped that goal in its tracks as the 40-year-old rehabilitated on the sidelines. Fast forward to today, and the Jets have won their second straight game with Rodgers under center.

After the win, the four-time league MVP was asked how he felt to be a part of the Jets family now as their fans continued to shout his name out. In a split-second and with a smile on his face he said;

We're trying change this whole attitude around here. We're trying to build something special here to get these fans to believe in us. They've been tortured for a long time. Last year was obviously a tough year. It's good to be back. It's great to be a Jet.

Rodgers was ecstatic that the fans were cheering his name after all the heartbreak they suffered last season. More importantly, they won their second straight game despite some questions still lingering on their offensive side.

But as Aaron Rodgers said, he wants to help change the Jets culture. For long, it was associated with disappointments and lost hope. Now with him under center, he can hope his wins will start to change the mindset of not only the fans but the owners, front office and coaching staff as well.

Aaron Rodgers and Jets win against hapless Patriots

Tonight’s battle was not a smooth sailing victory, as many would have liked. Aaron Rodgers is still struggling with inconsistent throws and a heightened sense of awareness for pass rushers breathing down his neck. But the touchdowns to Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard were encouraging.

Add in the slowly building chemistry with Mike Williams and his tight ends, and it should not be long before Rodgers starts to attack defenses. Tonight, the New England Patriots did not muster up too much of a problem for the future Hall of Famer. That gave him time on the ball and several chances to slowly get into rhythm.

After all, he too has to study the movements of his fellow offensive players in real time. Their next game after the bye week should also help him similarly. As after that, the real games begin. If the New York Jets are all tuned in together, expect Rodgers to bring about that change he is talking about.
