Aaron Rodgers WORSE than Zach Wilson and Sam Darnold? Colts game-winning drive leaves Jets QB’s legacy in tatters

Losing to the Indianapolis Colts has Aaron Rodgers plummeting to the worst record of any New York Jets QB in the past seven seasons.

The game against the Indianapolis Colts was of monumental importance for the New York Jets. They needed to win to continue to keep their playoff hopes alive. That meant Aaron Rodgers‘ legacy was on the line.

But for much in the first half, the Jets showed why they have struggled so far this season. The Aaron Rodgers-led offense could not muster up a scoring drive on their first five attempts. By the time they did manage to score a touchdown on their last drive of the half, the Colts were already up by one.

In the second half, they needed a fumble from the returning Anthony Richardson to get another chance at scoring and close the deficit. Then in the fourth quarter, Rodgers threw another touchdown pass to help the New York Jets take a substantial lead.

However, Anthony Richardson was hungrier as he was out to prove his earlier controversies did not define his career. He first threw a touchdown to help the Indianapolis Colts get to within one. Then after his defense stopped the Jets again, he ran in to score another touchdown to get his team the lead back.

Usually, 46 seconds would be enough for the Aaron Rodgers of old to get his team into a scoring position. But first an aborted fumble, and then a sack by Colts pass rusher Kwity Paye iced the game. For Rodgers, this 27-28 loss puts his legacy at risk.

With this loss, Aaron Rodgers now sits with a 3-8 record playing full games with the New York Jets. That makes the win-loss record stand at a paltry .273 percentage. The four-time league MVP has never had this bad a season in his sixteen seasons as a starter.

Last year’s opening day win is not part of his record as he did not play the full game after he went down with a season ending injury. However, this record has significance for the Jets as reporter Steve Palazzolo noted that the likes of former gang green quarterbacks Zach Wilson and Sam Darnold had a better record starting at least ten games.

The 40-year-old’s legacy was already on the line after embarrassing losses to bottom feeder teams. But this seems to take the cake as this was despite Rodgers having a stellar group of teammates around him. The team was built to his needs and players as well as the head coaching change were seemingly made to favor him.

On the contrary, the two former Jets top draft picks never had those luxuries. This record could become worse as five out of the six teams coming up are fighting for a playoff spot. Aaron Rodgers has committed to play next season, but he might want to erase this record.
