Abdul Carter feels he deserves to be the No.1 pick over Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, and Travis Hunter
Highly-regarded Penn State's Abdul Carter is expected to be a top 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The most-anticipated event of the NFL off-season is fast approaching. The NFL Draft is weeks away but the competition among players to make their final case for being one of the top picks is heating up. The first 5 picks are making their argument to be the first overall pick. Tennessee has the top pick this draft and the team is expected to draft a quarterback to replace Will Levis.
However, there is a chance the team may go in a different direction. Now that direction could be Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter. The former nearly swept all of the awards a collegiate player could win but the latter is no scrub either. Penn State’s Abdul Carter is as dominant of a player as Micah Parsons and his athletic prowess combined with football IQ makes him one of the few NFL-ready players in this draft.
The Penn State star finished his year with 12 sacks and 24 tackles for loss. He was the heart and soul of the nation’s top defensive team. His 65 quarterback pressures ranked him at number two in the nation. Not bad for a player who was an off-ball linebacker a year earlier.
Abdul Carter is confident that he deserves to be the first overall pick this year.
I feel like it’s very realistic. I feel like I’m the best player in the country and the best player should be picked first. It’s the work I put in with my dad, who trained me, and all the sacrifices I made, I know I’m the best.
Carter told Turron Davenport of ESPN
The last defensive end to train with his father was Aaron Donald and that man terrified offensive lines for his entire career. Carter has the potential to do that but will he be able to do that in Tennessee is the question.
Abdul Carter will not be working out at the NFL Combine
The defensive end is confident in his abilities. Abdul Carter believes that defensive players have the potential to impact the game as much as quarterbacks do. “Defensive players impact the game just as much as the quarterback. All the teams that have won Super Bowls, they have one standout player. I feel like I’m that,” Carter said.
He does have a point but apart from his capabilities, the Titans will focus on satisfying their positional requirement. Right now, Tennessee is leaning toward drafting a quarterback. Will Levis failed to convince them that he has the makings of a franchise quarterback.

With just two quarterbacks deemed NFL-worthy in this draft class, the Titans can draft a floor general they would like to stick with. However, both Carter and Travis Hunter are generational talents. It will be a hard decision to make for the Titans.
Abdul Carter is expected to be a top 3 pick with some analysts predicting he can go as high as first overall. The defensive end will not be working out at the Combine and similar to Shedeur Sanders, he will just focus on his interviews with scouts of teams. A shoulder/arm injury is preventing him from showcasing his skills in the Combine but he will be recovered by the time the draft comes around.
