The Sharma family is going through a phase of immense happiness. Firstly, the son of the house, Abhishek Sharma, had a dream Asia Cup with total score 309 runs in just 7 matches at a stupendous strike rate of over 200. He decimated most of the opposition he faced and ended with the player of the tournament trophy.

The happiness doubled recently for the family as the daughter of the family and Abhishek’s sister, Komal Sharma, tied the knot in a grand wedding in Amritsar. Komal married businessman Lovish Oberoi and celebrated the occasion in fine fashion. However, amidst all the happiness of the event, Komal missed the presence of her brother Abhishek.

It feels amazing. This is such a great day for me, I am tying the knot today. I am very happy and excited. I am missing my brother.

Komal Sharma said via Times of India

Komal expressed how she was enjoying the occasion but mentioned the absence of brother Abhishek. Abhishek Sharma couldn’t attend the meeting as he is attending national cricketing duty and representing India A in the series against Australia A.

The ODI series began on October first with Abhishek Sharma joining the side on the second after completing the Asia Cup tournament. He was all set to feature in the second ODI, which was played on the third of October, and as that match overlapped his sister’s wedding, the young batter decided to give preference to his profession.

Abhishek Sharma is in sublime form and would not want to leave any opportunity to maximize this purple patch as India are going through a phase of transition in all the formats.

Abhishek Sharma’s introduction to ODI cricket doesn’t begin on the best note

There are talks of Abhishek Sharma joining the One Day International setup of Indian cricket. After his aggressive exploits in the T20I format, many feel he can convert it into a slightly longer white ball format and taste success there too. With the uncertain future of white ball giants Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, there is every possibility that few spots might open up for grabs in the next few months.

With rumors that he might be included in the Australian ODI series, fans were excited to see him in action in the ODI series against Australia A. After missing the first match due to Asia Cup commitments, Sharma was back in action in the second ODI.

However, the series didn’t start on the best note as the left-handed opener got dismissed off the very first ball. The batter was caught by Will Sutherland off Jack Edwards‘ bowling. Not only Sharma but many prolific Indian batters, including Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer danced to the Australian bowlers’ tune and India were struggling at 17-3 before Tilak Varma played the rescue act with his 94.

India eventually lost the match and now will play the decider on October 5th, i.e. Sunday. Sharma would like to knock some runs in the final ODI and make a strong case for selection in the ODI team. If Sharma fails to make it to the ODI team for the Australian series, he will have a chance to show more T20 explosive batting in the T20I series that follows the ODI series Down Under.

Five T20Is will be played between the sides starting from October 29 and will go on till November 8. Sharma has a stiff T20 calendar ahead of him with five matches each against Australia, South Africa and New Zealand before the mega T20I World Cup which will be held in India.
