Tsitsipas has been among the top players in the world for a while now, and sometimes it’s easy to forget that he is only twenty two years of age. He has done well at both the French Open 2020, and the Australian Open 2021.

 In both the slams he got ousted at the Semi Finals stage. Tsitsipas has five ATP titles to his credit so far and would like to add a sixth at the Rotterdam Open 2021. He is seeded no.2 at this edition of the Rotterdam Open.

His opponent in the first round is  Egor Gerasimov. Gerasimov is currently participating in the ATP 250 tournament Open Sud de France. He has progressed steadily in the tournament there, and is scheduled to play a Semi Final encounter with David Goffin. Gerasimov has a particularly unimpressive record against the top 10 ranked players, where he has won just one match in the last eleven years. Last week he beat Andy Murray at the ATP Open Sud de France.

Tsitsipas alongside Medvedev are the two outright favourite for this event. Tsitsipas has a complete game fit for any surface and is a future multi Grand Slam winner. On the other hand, Gerasimov won his first Grand Slam match at the 2019 US Open. This is more of a mismatch than a match, Tsitsipas is the overwhelming favourite to win this.
