AC Milan return to winning ways with 2-1 victory over Bologna

AC Milan got back to winning ways in the Serie A following 2 defeats with a win over Bologna. Goals from Ante Rebic and Franck Kessie were enough for Pioli’s side to earn the 3 points.

Stefano Pioli’s side maintained their 2 point lead over city rivals Inter with the victory. Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed a penalty in the first half.

AC Milan broke a 28 year old record

AC Milan broke the deadlock in the 25th minute as Rafael Leao earned a penalty for the Rossoneri. Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw his attempt parried by Lukasz Skorupsk, but Ante Rebic followed-up to tap in the rebound.

Milan, who had lost their last two games in all competitions, moved onto 46 points. Bologna stay 13th on 20 points. Bologna had three glorious chances to level before the end of the first half, but were denied by some brilliant saves from Donnarumma.

The stops proved crucial for Milan as the Rossoneri earned another penalty in the 2nd half. Ibrahimovic was relieved of his penalty duties after missing the first one. Franck Kessie made no mistake from the spot to make it 2-0.

Substitute Andrea Poli got one back for the hosts in the 81st minute. However, Bologna could not find an equaliser despite plenty of late pressure.

With this victory AC Milan broke their all-time record for scoring in consecutive Serie A away games. The previous record stood for 28 years as they scored for a 20th consecutive match away from home. Milan’s next welcome bottom placed Crotone at San Siro and will look for another win to extend their lead at the top of the table.
