Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight caused quite a stir in the fighting community. Not only that, it has also made everyone involved in the fight’s buildup. As such, every top popular individual worldwide has started giving their viewpoints on the highly-anticipated boxing bout. This time, the infamous Gladiator star Russell Crowe has talked about the fight. In doing so, he has also labeled the bout as a ‘circus.’
Russell Crowe is a passionate combat sports enthusiast. In 2005, he even starred in a boxing biography movie called Cinderella Man. The film told the story of a former heavyweight champion who made a comeback in the sport. Interestingly, 58-year-old Tyson is also somewhat doing the same thing, although not exactly like the one depicted in the movie. As such, Crowe expressed concerns to Joe Rogan.
You know what bothers me with this whole thing is that he's (Mike Tyson) got to kind of slide back to that warrior and I'm just not sure that he needed to do it.Russell Crowe via Joe Rogan Experience #2191
The recent podcast episode featuring Russell Crowe and the UFC color commentator has sparked a lot of interest. Crowe and Rogan delved deep into the conversation about the Tyson vs. Paul fight. Interestingly, the popular actor also mentioned how terrifying ‘Iron’ Mike was during his peak. Crowe believes Tyson shouldn’t bother fighting an eight-round boxing bout at his current age.
However, the New Zealander is not the only one to raise questions on the Tyson vs. Paul bout. Even the Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya felt it was an unnecessary bout. Not only that, but De La Hoya also showed concerns for ‘Iron Mike,’ who might not go past round three against Paul. Such strong beliefs against the former world champion are due to the recent performance of ‘The Problem Child.’
Joe Rogan heaps praises on Jake Paul’s improvement as a boxer ahead of the Mike Tyson fight
Since his debut as a professional boxer, Jake Paul has taken on some of the top fighters in the world. The Problem Child’s professional boxing record boasts impressive victories over Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva. Now, his fight against Mike Tyson comes as another bout with a former world champion.
Paul’s most recent win came against another popular MMA fighter, Mike Perry, who could not even handle the Problem Child’s constant jabs. As such, popular UFC commentator Joe Rogan has heaped praises on the 27-year-old’s improvement as a boxer. Rogan believes that Tyson won’t be able to catch an agile young boxer like Paul.
He's dangerous. I think his strength is that people for whatever stupid reasons they underestimate him because what his background was... If you look at what he's done the time that he's put into it and the ability that he has just the sheer ability. He's a very good boxer.Joe Rogan via Joe Rogan Experience #2191
Although Rogan is puzzled about how Tyson vs. Paul will unfold, the 58-year-old legend is confident about beating the 27-year-old. In their recent presser at the NYC Fanatics Fest, both boxers traded several verbal jabs at each other, raising the anticipation for their bout.
