Recently, the man involved, Adam Copeland, talked about the controversial promo and how wrestling has moved on from it.

In an interview with Chek Media, the AEW TNT Champion stated that if he was asked to do the same segment now, he would definitely refuse it. Adam Copeland elucidated that wrestling has moved on from that phase. The Rated-R Superstar also said that even the society has moved on. Therefore, it is not necessary to do stuff like that to get attention.

I think that's one thing that wrestling did a lot of, and thankfully I think has learned its lesson. I think as society has progressed, as everyone has just kind of progressed and moved forward. I think thankfully, it has too, which wasn't always the case. It could kind of be the outlier who was left lagging behind, but I feel like now it's different, and in a good way.
