Almost a year back, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a s*xual trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon and the company. This sent shockwaves around the wrestling world, with many figures within the industry opining on the charges since then. Recently, Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, spoke in detail about his relationship with McMahon and the aforementioned lawsuit.
While speaking to Stephen Brunt on Up Close, Copeland said McMahon had a “fascinating” mind for business. The former WWE Champion revealed he would ask questions regarding the industry whenever he conversed with McMahon. Brunt then brought up the lawsuit, to which Copeland responded by claiming his relationship was always business-related.
The AEW star further heaped praise on McMahon, adding that several figureheads, such as Dana White, from the world took inspiration from his model. Copeland pointed out how the former WWE CEO turned the brand from a regional industry to a global entity. Although he didn’t agree with some of McMahon’s ideas, Copeland ended up finding them interesting anyway.
The Rated-R Superstar had been an active part of WWE for almost two decades. During this time, Adam Copeland transitioned from a tag team wrestler to a main event talent under the leadership of McMahon. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the former TNT Champion admires the founder of WWE.
Following Vince McMahon‘s retirement in 2022, the veteran’s on-screen role became limited. A year later, he wrestled his last match for the company. The WWE Hall of Famer defeated Sheamus on the August 18 episode of SmackDown in front of his hometown of Toronto. Following his departure, Copeland went on to join rival promotion AEW.
Former WWE Superstar claims that Vince McMahon lied to him
Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE, didn’t live up to expectations in his WWE career. Although he was a two-time world champion, the company, specifically Vince McMahon, never saw him as a potential main eventer.
Recently, while speaking with Takedown on SI, Nemeth revealed that McMahon had broken a promise. Prior to cashing in his Money in the Bank contract, Nemeth had lost several matches in the prior year. McMahon had allegedly told Nemeth that the losses wouldn’t matter once he became world champion.
However, it only took a week for the Genetic Jackhammer to break his promise. A week after cashing in the contract and becoming World Heavyweight Champion, Nemeth lost a non-title match against Jack Swagger. Nemeth claimed that both he and Swagger expressed their shock at the decision.
