Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett

The NBA is one of the most followed leagues around the world. Fans from all over the globe tune in to watch their superstars play for their favorite franchises. However, on a certain weekend, these stars play together on one team. This is the NBA’s ‘All-Star’ matchup that happens once a year on weekends. Regarding this, former NBA stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce had an interesting take.

Garnett, on his ‘All the Smoke’ podcast, opened up on a way to enhance the NBA All-Star weekend. This is because many NBA experts believe that the NBA stars do not take the ‘All-Star’ matchup seriously.

Instead, they play to have a good time on the court rather than being competitive. According to Garnett and Pierce, the league needs to add a $10 million prize money to get the players’ attention.

Initially, Garnett stated that the league should offer a million dollars as prize money for the players. Pierce, however, raised the stakes to a whopping $10 million, suggesting NBA chairman, Adam Silver to adopt their proposal. They also added that the league should introduce ‘one-on-one’ matchups for the All-Stars.

Garnett, in particular, singled out the Houston Rockets’ Dillon Brooks, claiming he would ‘enjoy’ such competitiveness. However, these are just thoughts and opinions being shared by the two former NBA champions. It is yet to be seen what changes Silver does for the ‘All-Stars’ in the 2024-25 NBA season.

Kevin Garnett termed LaMelo Ball as ‘must watch TV’

The Charlotte Hornets’ star man LaMelo Ball has garnered much attention from various NBA experts and ex-players. Ball’s performance has left former NBA star Kevin Garnett utterly astonished.

Garnett has called for the 23-year-old to be chosen an All-Star this season because of his “showtime-esque” performance every time he takes the floor.

LaMelo got a different bag and he’s playing with a different confidence. I hope the league blesses him with an All-Star. He is must-watch TV. I think he’s great when you put him around other young guys. He’s fun to watch.

Garnett’s analysis of Ball isn’t wrong. With an average of 31.1 points per game, Ball has been exceptional and is only surpassed in scoring by Giannis Antetokounmpo. In addition, the 2021 ROY has the 12th-highest assist per game total of 6.9. Ball has undoubtedly been the Hornets’ lone ray of light during a season in which they have once again failed to live up to expectations.
