When public anger started growing after the possible salary cap circumvention allegations against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers came to light, Adam Silver stepped in by assigning a third-party law firm to start an investigation.

That news came about on September 3rd, 2025, which means it has been 10 months since the league decided to probe into those allegations. In a recent press conference, the Commissioner mentioned that the investigation should end before the start of the 2026-27 season.

However, a more recent report indicated that the probe could stretch into 2027. That would keep the Clippers, Leonard, the Toronto Raptors, and the league in limbo.

With his trade to the Canadian team on hold, the superstar does not have a team he can play on unless he decides to suit up for the Clippers. But what has baffled fans and analysts is how long this investigation is taking.

They want this to go away… Sports, the CBA, this investigation, Adam Silver as the Supreme Court justice. This is not a real justice system. This is a business hiring a law firm to try and control a problem in which the public may never know the depths of whatever they discovered, because, of course, it’s bad for business if this thing keeps on expanding.

Pablo Torre said on the Dan Le Batard show

The journalist who started this entire fiasco by digging deep and finding a mountain of incriminating evidence believes that Adam Silver and this third-party law firm are not making it fair for sports fans.

An investigation where that amount of incidents are available on record, it should not take this long to conclude. Pablo Torre believes the NBA possibly does not want the reality to be revealed.

Pablo Torre continues to ask questions about Kawhi Leonard’s deals

After addressing the investigation into the Aspiration deal, which allegedly helped the Los Angeles Clippers funnel funds to Kawhi Leonard, Pablo Torre moved to another questionable piece of evidence that he brought up yesterday.

Fundamentally, why is there yet another deal with Kawhi Leonard in which the whole notion of why you are in business with a superstar athlete is to announce it, is to market it… Much like in parallel to Aspiration… Two LLC’s formed the week before he signs a sub-max extension with the Clippers, when he is still owed millions of dollars… from the Aspiration deal. Why is this another secret arrangement?

Pablo Torre asked

The investigative journalist reiterated that whenever a company or a brand associates itself with a superstar athlete or a celebrity, they promote the collaboration, as that tends to draw attention, further investments, and fans.

While former Clippers teammate Daniel Theis, another Rhode Island FC investor, was announced on their social media pages, the soccer club did not do so with Leonard. Torre wonders whether funds from Aspiration were funneled into the stadium and housing projects associated with this club.

What he finds staggering is that the stadium was supposedly publicly funded, whereas no housing projects have commenced even though this deal was done back in 2024. That is alarmingly similar to how Leonard’s ‘no-show’ deal was with Aspiration.

Pablo Torre finds links between Rhode Island Governor and Kawhi Leonard-Clippers

This new investigation into the Rhode Island FC soccer club has kicked up a storm. So far, Pablo Torre revealed that the timing and nature of Kawhi Leonard‘s investment made it all the more conspicuous.

Then, the reporter goes on to converse with his podcast partners about how, on October 24th, 2025, the Governor of Rhode Island made a trip to Los Angeles, where a ‘private (tentative)’ event was marked from 9:45 pm to 11:45 pm.

His colleague, Amin Elhassan, then guessed that it was a Los Angeles Clippers game. Torre goes on to reveal that Rhode Island FC’s owner, Brett Johnson, was also at this game.

The video goes on to show an interview with the Governor, Dan McKee, where WPRI’s 12 Investigative unit asks him about the game and whether he met Kawhi Leonard or even the investment into the soccer club. Every time a question was asked, the Governor seemed to have lost his sense of speech.

It might be nothing, as the group just may have tried to keep things quiet at the behest of the two-time champion, who himself is a soft-spoken person who does not like the bright lights. However, the timing, the nature, and the secrecy have Torre raising doubts.
