In less than two months, the 2026 NBA All-Star Game will take place at Chase Center, but LeBron James might not make it after he garnered just the 9th most fan votes after the first returns.
The fact that he missed a month and a half due to injury may have played its part, as fans have not seen the Akron native play enough. On top of that, his performances since returning have been underwhelming.
He may have started off with a bang, but then struggling to muster up double-digit scores seems to have left fans wanting more. James has picked up the pace since and has been performing well.
However, with how the rest of the league is playing, there could be a chance that the lack of votes from fans, and those from current players, the media, and coaches, could see his 21-straight streak come to an end.
I know a lot of people are like ‘oh man, he shouldn’t be an All-Star’. Shut up. Yes, he should. Because he’s been the face of the NBA for 20 years. Figure it out. There is no world where LeBron James isn’t an All-Star.
Draymond Green said on his namesake podcast
The Golden State Warriors star reminded viewers that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had added Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade to the 2019 All-Star team when it was their last year in the league.

Therefore, Draymond Green believes it is imperative that Silver steps in if the coaches, media, and fans do not muster up enough votes to send LeBron James to his 22nd straight All-Star game.
LeBron James’ agent opens up about recent trade rumors
Whatever his inclusion in the 2026 All-Star game comes to, LeBron James‘ name has also come up in trade conversations, with one linking him to the very team hosting the festivities.

I believe anytime you’re placing LeBron James on any team it makes basketball sense. I think Jimmy Butler plays basketball the right way, to where Jimmy Butler fits on any team. Right now, I like Jimmy on the Golden State Warriors.
Rich Paul said on the Game Over Podcast
This was Rich Paul, the Lakers superstar’s agent and close friend, who replied to podcast co-host Max Kellerman‘s question about the recent rumors of a swap with Jimmy Butler.
Paul was seemingly intent on suggesting that his most important client is perfectly fine wearing the purple and gold and may not be interested in a trade at this stage of his career.

Kellerman tried to finesse some more opinions on this from his co-host, basing his conversation around the Lakers’ defensive woes. The Klutch Sports CEO, however, was not having it and claimed that this trade proposal was a fantasy.
Rich Paul defends calls for LeBron James to play more defense
When conversations surrounding the Lakers’ struggles on defense continued, Max Kellerman pointed out that superstar LeBron James wasn’t playing any defense.
Normally it’s not the superstar guy that’s going to be your all-defensive guy… If you have to depend on a 41-year-old we’re in trouble anyway.
Rich Paul said
Paul was echoing what Gilbert Arenas said recently about the Lakers being in trouble if they need a 41-year-old to play more defense. The agent was defending his client’s recent lapses on that end of the floor, which has led to those trade conversations mentioned earlier.

Kellerman understood that it was senseless to ask someone of that age to defend at a high level. However, he did mention that the team would be a lot better if the four-time league MVP played a bit of defense.
