The situation for the Carolina Panthers doesn’t seem to be improving even a little bit. After the bizarre 2-15 season in 2023, they suffered two back-to-back defeats, and in each one, they couldn’t post over ten points. Quarterback Bryce Young is majorly blamed for the worsening situation in Carolina. However, his teammate Adam Thielen doesn’t think the former should be blamed solely.
Even though Young has just entered his second season in the NFL, having endured intense pressure and backlash last season, he again became the target of the fans over his poor outing in Week 2. During such scrutiny, wide receiver Thielen came forward to the second-year quarterback’s defense while talking to the media following their 3-26 defeat.
I love Bryce to death, man. He works his butt off. He's a great player. This is not a Bryce Young issue. This is an offensive team issue. We are all in this together. I know what football is, that's why I love this game with everything I have because it is the greatest team game. It’s not about an individual.Adam Thielen told the reporters
Interestingly, after his team failed to put more than three points on the scoreboard, the two-time Pro Bowler was visibly frustrated as he was seen walking toward the sidelines and taking his helmet off with a disappointing expression on his face. However, he couldn’t handle the amount of backlash a 22-year-old quarterback is receiving, who has just started his career in the NFL.
Bryce Young’s calm response to criticism inspires hope
On one side, where fans and critics are criticizing Young for his poor outing in Week 2 and posting below 100 yards mark, he is being praised for his maturity on the other. The signal-caller remained calm and demure while addressing the media post-game amid the intense criticism.

There have been many quarterbacks, who struggled in his initial years in the league–and using that in his favor, Young told the media that this struggle is part of the process. Success rarely comes immediately, especially in a league such as the NFL, and this challenge of testing a player only makes them better.
This is part of the process. There's no growth without challenges. I'm committed to this team, and we'll get better. We just have to stay the course.Bryce Young said
The former first-overall pick’s words brought the fans the hope they desperately needed while also putting forward a fresh perspective to see the failure. Although the journey wouldn’t be easy, Young proved that he has a fighter mindset and isn’t giving up so soon.
