- Adidas released a commercial supporting Anthony Edwards after he received a $25,000 fine from the NBA.
- The fine was imposed for throwing the ball into the stands during a game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
- Edwards expressed joy over a young fan's cancer recovery while maintaining his confident playing style on the court.
Fines have become synonymous with Anthony Edwards over the past few years. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar wants to say what he wants, and the league cannot do much other than dock his paycheck.
Be it when he lashed out at officials for their poor officiating, something the NBA takes very seriously, as it could jeopardize their image as they look to expand globally. Or, when the 24-year-old went on an NSFW rant at a courtside fan, the league did not take that kindly and fined him $50,000. Last season alone, the NBA docked $420,000 from his salary.
Not that it would matter to someone whom the Minnesota Timberwolves paid 100 times that. Now, he has sneaker giant Adidas, one of his primary sponsors, come in with some help.
Good thing we saved for times like this…Believe That.
Adidas’ caption for their commercial
The company that garnered $24.7 billion in revenue posted this commercial for Anthony Edwards‘ AE2 sneakers as a direct response to NBA Communications’ tweet announcing the guard’s latest $25,000 fine.

They slapped him with that after the 6’4″ guard threw the ball into the stands, ‘with force,’ while playing against the Portland Trail Blazers. The commercial shows Adidas and its young ambassador taking shots at the league.
It shows Edwards’s accountant moving cash into a bag to pay for his fines. After moving $430,000, the Atlanta native asks him to double the amount, indicating that his AE2 shoes will pay for it, as he was not about to slow down on showing his natural self.
Anthony Edwards all smiles after young fan beats cancer
Anthony Edwards uses his swag to both dominate on the court and express himself whenever required. That attitude even had former President Barack Obama impressed.

But when matters come close to the heart, the Timberwolves superstar is not one to show off his ego, as some athletes tend to do. Instead, he was all smiles when he learned of how one of his ardent fans beat cancer.
I was turned up. Slick told me earlier today before the game, so I was like, ‘Let’s go.’ That’s god’s gift, man. So, let’s do it, Luca.
Anthony Edwards said
This was his response when he learnt that 7-year-old Luca Wright, a fan who gave him an orange cancer-awareness wristband over a year ago, had finally beaten cancer.

When Anthony Edwards first met Luca, then aged 6, he was battling leukemia. The Minnesota Timberwolves star kept track of the boy’s progress during treatment.
Then, they announced through their social media page that he was cancer-free. No wonder the former first-overall pick had a wide smile, as his promise of wearing that wristband finally led to some terrific news.
Anthony Edwards ignored head coach’s instructions for game-winner
Anthony Edwards channeled all the happiness from knowing about Luka Wright’s recovery into his performance against the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome.
After scoring 26 points, the home team came back to close the deficit to just a point. On the next possession, when facing Kris Dunn, apparently, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch shouted at Edwards to pass the ball.

Instead, the guard continued to toy with the Clippers star, and then went on to hit the game-winner with the hands of two defenders in his face. After the game, when reporters asked him about it, the four-time All-Star replied:
Me and my coach got the best relationship ever. I mean, he be right most of the time — 98% of the time, he be right. He told me to pass the ball tonight, and I should have passed it, but I shot it instead. And it went in. The basketball gods was on my side tonight.
Anthony Edwards replied
Here's Anthony Edwards when @JonKrawczynski asked about his final shot and if Finch told him he needed to pass it in that spot.

As he answered, it was evident he had no problem ignoring his head coach’s advice. After all, he wants to end every game scoring the game-winner.
